I will bet that Toyota still has a better track record in the recall / Quality department than that Ford your so proud of.... :D;)

In fact in 2007 alone Ford had 11 recalls on various models ,,, dealing with everything from fualty brake lines to defective aluminum wheels ,, ;)

And for the record I drive a Chevy .... ;) and the wife drives a 2001 Toyota Corolla which hasn't cost us a penny in major repairs....:p;)

Vehicles are like lemons,, they all leave that bitter taste when the break down...

LOL... Sheesh, Nick the Tundra is more American that that Chevy you are driving....:p;)

shhhh, don't tell him that! :)

I am a GM man, always will till the day I die. Raised in a family that all we owned was GM and in my area that is just what we drive and have trust in.

At least they are stepping up the plate and replacing those engines, very costly recall on their part, very costly!!!!

yep. every vehicle has something. i prefer gm, although i've had many a dodge & ford. i like them all, just prefer gm. as far as some of the foreign cars, i've only had one and we love it. but it's high end. toyota is made in america, most parts are made in america, with american labor. but, they are non union, and reward workers with better benefits. if i liked them, i'd buy one. simple as that.

Nice try DD, where's the link? :D Oh here it is http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2657086

There have been about 20 failures of the camshaft so far. Toyota is trying to determine what number of its 30,000 units are affected by a poor casting job in the crankshaft made by an outside vendor.

To remedy the situation, they are going to replace the entire engine and cover the costs of the entire replacement as opposed to just replacing the broken camshaft. I'd say that is pretty good.

Now, let me contast that with my experience with Chevy and Ford. My wife's venture minivan has a horrible transmission....two full replacements in 130,000 miles and it is acting up again. What is Chevy's response? We don't have a problem. For Ford's part, I had a model of Ranger that had chronic tranny problems, same thing DENY DENY DENY despite the fact that many thousands of cases existed.

I have a Tundra and just completed one recall due to a POSSIBLE bad ball joint. They contacted me and replaced it on the off chance it would fail. Every manufacturer is going to have problems, especially it seems with outside vendor parts. The test for me is whether they step up and take care of it or hide behind their corporate attorneys.

Toyota all the way for me. I am done with American made crap and like someone else said, there is no such thing as American made any more. My Toyota had more American made parts than the Ford or Chevy and was made in Tennessee or Texas, I can't remember.

Yeah, but the money they make off a Chevy, Ford, or Chrysler is staying here in America......The money made off a Toyota is going over-seas.

Nick, do you honsetly believe that these so called American Manufactures are bringing that money back home from Central America and Europe ??? I would venture to say not ... I bet the majority of it stays right where it is...;) (could be wrong tho).

I would bet that the two Toyota plants that are here in America are feeding American families ... ;);)

Let's face it Nick,, the good ol' days of 100% American Made are gone...:(:(

Yep, they all have their good and bad ones. At least their replacing the whole engine though, I can't see GM doing that if we had a recall like that. It'd be replacing the camshaft and bearings, that'd be it. Unless of course it wore right through the bearings and ruined the block (or head on OHC engines).

I myself will probably always drive Chevy. Dad likes Chrysler, some of my uncles like Ford, I don't mind any of them. I know toyota and honda make some good products too, but most of them look like their from outer space.

Let me know when you want to toe things toe to toe. I will see if you can keep up with my powerstroke or my 5.4 in pulling things. We will start with loaded grain wagons down the highway. Then we will hook the trucks up to the sled on the track and we will see where the real power is.

This is real power here

Ha, the real mark for me is when that Ford of yours is nothing but a distant memory and my Yota is still running! :p

I'll tell you that last picture is inspiring....the best thing that could happen is for the ice to break and that thing to sink! :D Even making the payments on a sunk truck and making additional payments on a Yota, you would be better off. ;)

In the South, we have a phrase that pretty well covers bobw's post here and it goes "bless your heart".

I am wondering if double and I should laugh at Bob together or if we should laugh at poor bob individually! :D

so is this "i only buy american made" just for cars? i'd be willing to bet that the majority of you that say you'll only buy american made products are on here because you are using a foreign made computer, or have a foreign made TV, VCR, DVD player, Stereo, cell phone, ..etc...like someone said above nothing is american made anymore....some things may be assembled here, but not everything is 100% american...curious to see how you guys would react if all of these foreign based comanies who employ thousands of americans would react if they just up and closed all of there plant/shops and left them unemployed.

Are you completely NUTS !! Over 1 Million in recalls ... YEAH RIGHT..:rolleyes: I would like to see those FACTS if you please ..

I provided a link with my facts where's yours ??

And for your BIG 3 American ,, Just who would they be ?? Ford, Chevy, and Dodge have all but left the country last I checked...;)

FACT is the only TRUE 100% built American vehicle in this country is a Toyota..:p:p ,, hows them for apples...:D and thats fact...

As for your logic in supporting american employee's ,, just who do you think built these Toyota's here in the USA ?? ..:confused:

You might want to thank those Central Americans that built your Ford ... ;)

You see I went and did that research you wanted me to do... I bet you wish you hadn't made that statement now UH ...:D;)

Here's some facts for ya to chew on for abit..

Vehicle Recalls: Ford, Toyota

Ford Recalls 3.8 Million Trucks, SUVs

In the fifth largest-ever recall ever, Ford dealers will repair an electrical defect in approximately 3.8 million trucks and SUVs. The recall includes 1994-2002 F-150 pickups, 1997-2002 Expedition SUVs, 1998-2002 Lincoln Navigators and 1994-96 Ford Broncos equipped with cruise control. The problem is caused by brake fluid leaking into control electrical components, which has been blamed for about 1,100 fires. Ford has already recalled about 800,000 model-year 2000 vehicles for a similar problem.

Toyota Recalls 978,000 Trucks, SUVs

Toyota is recalling 978,000 SUVs and trucks for a problem with the steering. A linkage from the steering unit to the wheels can fail, which can lead to a loss of steering. The problem, however, occurs when the vehicles are stopped. The Toyotas included in the recall are the 1990-95 4Runner SUV, 1989-95 Truck 4WD, and 1993-98 T-100 pickup.
