8ptbuckpa
First question I have is has anybody tried either the Spro Bronzeye Frog or the Xcalibur wake bait for bass. Do you like it/them? The other Is I need some help for some midday bass fishing. I am fishing in Ontario Canada for predominately Largemouth bass but the prior years we only used to fish the morning and afternoon periods. This time me and my grandfather are getting into a camp fishing derby of about 50 people. Anybody have any suggestions on lures/techniques or areas to look/fish for. any help will be appreciated thanks Brad
Guest bowhunter56
I always had luck up there with white spinners baits, also silver with blue or green back rattle traps.
LifeNRA
Mid-day bass fishing, plastic worms!!! Once the sun is up, bass seek shaded areas. Look for weedy or log places that will hold fish. If no places exist, look for the first drop off from the shoreline. 3-5 feet of water going deeper! Pick up some power worms in 4" & 6", rig them texas rig! Deep running crankbaits will also work on them drop-offs. Running a spinnerbait deep too! Usually about 10AM I start looking for shaded areas and drop-offs, because thats where I catch the bass when the morning bite slows or stops. Now if it is cloudy all day, keep fishing the banks! Guest Andrea
Found a good spot yesterday on the river for bass. We have had no measurable rain in about 2 months so the river is extremely low now. So right in the middle of the river it's about 6 inches, but it dropped off to about 6 ft in the middle on this bend. Right where it dropped off.....the bass were hitting. Caught one on a broken-back Rebel that was good eating size. Also caught some gars. No experience with the baits you've mentioned, sorry. Texan_Til_I_Die
I've used the Spro frogs. Works pretty good. For midday bass, look for some type of shade, preferably aquatic vegetation, with deeper water nearby. Also, if there's a breeze, look for banks that have the wind blowing into them. I agree with Texan. We have had good luck fishing pad fields during the middle of the day. It's tough because you may not get a lot of bites but you may also pluck a big fish. I've never fished the Spro frog but a Zoom Horney Toad is great ... especially around grass. We also fish deep points with a c-rigged plastics (babybrushhogs) when it's hot and sunny in the summer time. Eric
DU_man_84
midday bass can be a little tougher, but just look for their source of cover, fish frogs or weedles tubes on top of the moss or lily pads, recommend black frogs they cast the best shadow under these conditions, also spinnerbaits on weedlines or really tight to cover, just gotta find the spots thats gonna have the cooler water were they can get outa the sun as for the Bronzey frog i have not had any experince with, also i have not used the xcalibur wake bait,, but my guess it would be a great bait cause i use may xcalibur baits, and they all work awesome, one of my favorite top water baits from xcalibur is the spit'n'image, great bass bait, they are hard to come by now for some reason, can only find them in certain places
