dogdoc
3 pins set at 20 30 40 the 40 is target only as I don't take shots over 30 yards on a deer. I split the pins for in between shots. todd
Missed160
Re: for those with pin sights Went to 1 pin. Dead on at 25 yrds. less then 2 inches low at 30, which is my personal limit. Under 20 I hold just below the middle of the deer, 20-30 right on the middle line.. Seems to work for me.

VermontHunter
Re: for those with pin sights 3 PIN... 20 25 30 Anything after 30yards. I have a problem with fishtailing that I haven't been able to correct so I don't even consider a shot after that distance.

dg
Re: for those with pin sights I've got 5 pins on my spot-hogg real-deal set at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. Just habit I guess. I use the same sight for 3-d and hunting and don't feel like taking them off for hunting. Besides, I like checking my groups at 60 with broadheads to see if they are planing right or left. jerdanmagic
Re: for those with pin sights I have a Hoyt sight with three pins. 15,30, 45. Still haven't shot anything but a target at 45 yards, but I feel confident that I could make that long of a shot if i really needed to. Canuck2
Re: for those with pin sights Multiples of 10 seem to be the most common by far. I guess I'm just different - my 5 pin Trophy Ridge has settings of 25, 32, 39, 46, 53. Only the first 2 come into play for hunting but I leave them this way for 3D. Anything under 25 requires only minor aiming adjustments.

elkoholic
Re: for those with pin sights bow # 1 3 pin; 20,30,40 yds bow # 2 5 pin; 20,40,60,70,80 yds I have never shot over 40 yds at game, although at 60 yds I can usually keep the arrows within a 4 inch circle and, on a good day, at 80 yds the groups are about the same. I would not hesitate to take a broad side shot at an elk, with bow # 2 (Browning Apparition) at 60 yds. I think that anyone hunting deer from a treestand could easily do with 1 pin or 2 at the most.
