Ok fellas, wanted to hear what yall thought about this. I'm originally from wisconsin and have a combined about 1000 acres to hunt in vernon county (southwest wisconsin). I usually head up for the week of Thanksgiving for rifle season. But never had luck with the bucks. Usually shoot a couple does, and pass on a bunch of 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old bucks. This year i was thinking of skipping the rifle season, but buying my archery licesnse and hunting the first 4 days in november, and then heading up again for another week to bow hunt the late season in mid december. Im most likely gonna try and head up for the early november bowhunt, but was wondering what you guys think. Especially those who have experience bowhunting in Wisconsin. Thanks, General

not to mention...since i killed does last year, i believe my earn-a-buck tag carries over to this year so i will be able to shoot a bruiser buck if he walks by first. If im wrong...let me know, but im pretty sure thats how it works.

I don't think doe kills in one year carry over to the next season.

It's hard to say, the Wisconsin DNR has a strange way of stating the rules sometimes.

When EAB took the place of the October T-Zone hunt a couple years ago, you could kill a doe and get a EAB sticker for the next year. I'm not sure if that still applies, but I know a lot of people think it does. If it does, you'll get a sticker in the mail. It wouldn't hurt to call or email the DNR and ask them though. I would call though, sometimes they don't answer your question too well through emails.

Early November and the late season are great choices. And YES, your EAB tag is good for this year. I also filled my doe tags, so I'm ready for the big one this year. If it weren't for the carry over rule I never would have been able to take my biggest buck ever with the bow last year. I hunt in Jackson County, so you're right next door. Good luck with your bow hunt.
