wtnhunt
Just went and picked up my new Rock River varmint rifle yesterday. Long story short, had to cancel the order I had placed with Eagle Arms and order from RB Precision, ended up running me about the same from RB and I went just $11 over the $900 I had wanted to spend, so I think I did ok. Chambered in .223 wylde, with a 20 inch barrel. Will be going with the burris b-plex 3-9X40 that I need to take off of my .270. The .270 will get a new nikon monarch 3-9X40. Not sure which rings to go with though. Thinking medium or high warne rings to get the scope up a bit, afraid low would have the scope in an awkward position. Anyone have suggestions for rings. Anyhoo, here are a few pics.

wtnhunt
Is the ammo easy to load up ? Dont know yet Mike, have not shot it yet. Dang. Didn't know you had it in you William. What's that for? Had been kind of thinking of getting one for a while Chris and figured I better get it now while I can, besides it makes a nice early birthday present from me to me:D. This will be a target and varmint rifle. With accuracy guaranteed 3/4 inch moa at 100 yards, I should be good for hunting yotes and any other varmints anywhere in this area. hangunnr
Thinking medium or high warne rings to get the scope up a bit....... IMO the medium or high Warne rings are still too low for a comfortable cheek weld. I have an Armalite mount on my AR that is .625 high (measured from the top of the rail on the rifle to the bottom of the ring where the scope sits) and it is still a bit low. I'd like to have another 1/4 - 3/8th" rise to be completely comfortable. The Warne high rings are only .525 high, can't say what the mediums are. I originally had Warne rings in mind but found them to be too low. With that said....They do offer a riser block that would go between the rings and the rifle that would allow the use of the Warne high rings. Warne does offer Xrta high (.650") and Ultra high (.850") that should be good to go without any riser blocks needed. Here is the URL to them at Brownells. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=15492&title=MAGNUM+SPEICAL+APPLICATION+MAXIMA+RINGS When I was looking for a mount I didn't find out about the Xtra or Ultra rings untill after I picked up the Armalite mount. If I was gonna order, I'd go with the Ultra high... hangunnr
wtnhunt
If I was gonna order, I'd go with the Ultra high... Thanks hangunnr. Checked the link there, and think I will go with the ultra high rings, that is what they suggest for flat top AR's.
