Thanks

I'd just like to take a moment to thank all of you for your kind words and warm welcome. What you're doing to honor and remember David gives proof not only to what a wonderful man he was to have left such an impression on so many, but also to what wonderful people you all are.

Come out, come out where ever you are...

Swampfox-

If you're waiting until 11:59:59 to bid $751, you're missing the point of this auction! ;)

Go ahead, make my day...make a bid.

FoD,

What you're doing here shows a lot of respect for David and for something that truly mattered to him. You are one of the most generous people I know - generous with something far more important than cash - yourself. You've done it before and here you are, doing it again.

I already miss you and David both singing along in the OR to the only song you both liked - the one with Tim McGraw (sung by David) and Nelly (sung by you).

Thanks for making such a heartfelt difference. You really are something special.

Swampfox, you've got your work laid out for you with this one! Good luck, and here's to helping out David's family.

Sorry for keeping you folks on the edge of your seat. It took a while for me to gather my shovel, map, and gloves. And the lock was kind of rusty.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

In light of this verse, the least I can do is bid $1000.

Somehow I think these two know each other....:D:D

If not,, BLESS thier souls anyhow ... :):cool:

I don't know these guys/gals from Michigan. But if they are friends of David, I guess you could call them friends of mine even though we have never met.

What I cannot understand is how David got folks up there to sing country music in the OR. What's next? Maybe all the CT surgeons will start wearing boots in the OR as well.

Good luck Swampfox

Oh, 2400 CST, way past my bedtime.

Have to get up at 0600 EST to get to work with Wildside, doing what David loved, fixing a 4-week-old baby's heart.

While he may be in a better place, after family and church, and maybe the field, there are few places David shined more than the OR.

You all knew a different side of him, the Exturkinator, but just so you know, he was the brightest young star in congenital heart surgery, destined for greatness. I'm not just saying that because he is gone. Ironically, I was talking to someone just that morning, while he was away on the procurement, about that very thing. Despite not even having completed his thoracic surgery residency, much less his congenital heart surgery fellowship (congenital heart surgeons have to complete general surgery residency, thoracic surgery residency and a congenital fellowship - that's 10 years for those of you scoring at home, and David was in year 9 of 10), he was already known by everyone in our field. I received notes of condolence from congenital heart surgeons as far away as Japan.

So, David had complete 4 years of college, 4 years of med school and 9 years of residency, and was on the cusp of finishing. Now, the average resident finishes with over 6 figures of debt, and I know that David, and now Candice and their three kids have $150,000 in student loans, etc.

Like I said, this is already way past my bedtime, so I don't know how this will end. But if Swampfox ponys up something like $2000, he can have the calls and God bless him.

WIN OR LOSE I WILL DONATE MY $1500 TO DAVID'S FUND. I WOULD LIKE TO CHALLENGE EVERY ONE OF YOU THAT BID TO DONATE THE AMOUNT THAT YOU BID. AFTERALL, IT WAS NEVER REALLY ABOUT THE CALLS WAS IT? IT WAS THE AMOUNT THAT YOU THOUGHT THAT YOU COULD AFFORD TO PUT FORTH TO THIS WORTHY CAUSE.

Good night. We are all blessed to be able to read these posts. I know, because it could have been me on that plane with David, Richard, Rick and the two pilots instead of my partner, Martin. Just the random nature of the call schedule and the grace of God.

Wildside-

I went to Richard's memorial today. Someone read that quote on your post by Albert Einstein. Amazing.
