Rain delay

I personally don't believe that NASCAR is rigging the races but this does lead to a whole lot of people raising eyebrows. I mean, look at them not throwing a caution flag for JJ's blown front tire when it was clearly putting debris all over the track and a definite hazard to the other drivers considering he was barely controlling his own car. And yet they throw a caution when they see a piece of foam on the inside of the track at Darlington. Well, it may not have been Darlington but I know they caught Robby Gordon throwing out his roll bar padding onto the track somewhere. Point is, they should have thrown the caution if they are true to their word and are only concerned for the safety of the drivers. They just proved that they care more about the results of the race then they do the driver's safety. I think it's odd how a crew cheif does something so odd and ends up winning the race. Like Kyle Petty said, " If that team is so good to be able to predict the number of laps to halfway plus the time the weather will roll in and rain on the track plus what position their driver will be in and when the others will come in for a pit stop then I want to announce my retirement right now." Sorta funny how they held off a caution and the red flag to where Gordon will win another race. Just seems odd to me. I guess they need to bring fans back.

Nascar didn't throw the caution for Robby Gordon when he blew his left front prior to JJ blowing his tire either so I think Nascar was consistant on that call.... But you are very right on the prior caution for a very small piece of debris...:confused:

Gordon was very lucky Newman held up when he did, or the outcome would have been very different.... ;);) All this was is a very luck, and I do mean very lucky call for the #24 team...

I hate these rain called races, I'd rather they just started the race over from scratch the next day,,, but we all know that's not going to happen...

So this is what it is.... yet another shortened race due to mother nature....;)

I was at work so i didn't see the race, but watching the highlights on ESPN last night, i got the feeling they didn't throw the caution for JJ because they wanted to get to the halfway point so they could call the race if necessary. Jeff was just in the right place at the right time. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good! ;):D

They claim they didn't through the caution on JJ's tire because they wanted to get to halfway before the rain but they are sooooo into safety for the drivers you would think they would do the right thing. Caution for R. Gordon... no caution for JJ. I'm really just about done with NASCRAP (as Chrud would say). I'm just sick of the inconsistancy with the calls they make. Tony Stewart was right when he went off on them. I agree it was a lucky call for Gordon but it sure looks like NASCAR would like to see him win another championship this year. They're helping him out for sure!

Jeff Gordon is on a roll, when it happens it happens and they can do nothing wrong right now. They are in championship contention and its his championship to lose. The team is giving him great cars, the crew chief is making great calls and face it, they have a great driver behind the wheel. Like him or hate him he can drive THAT car and put it in the winner's circle. 4 championships and working on a 5th, its his year that is for sure!!

I think they would have made the same call, no matter who was leading at the time. Ryan Newman was mere feet from the lead when they threw the caution for rain. At the time they elected not to throw the caution, there is no way NASCAR could have known who would be leading when the rain finally came. Think about the implications of the race being halted just laps short of being "official". They would not have restarted the race where it left off, they would have started over. Hardly a good idea with 250 miles already on the cars. I agree that NASCAR is all over the board at times with their decisions, but the idea that they want a particular driver to win a Championship is nonsense in my opinion. If they wanted anyone to win, it should be their most popular driver, not one of the most disliked!
