With age comes a growing lack of patience...at least for me anyway. It's better today (so far) but it's been pretty poor up through yesterday.

I upgraded to Fast Access DSL Xtreme from a slower DSL about 10 days ago and the forum was still slow compared to any other site. So far it's better today. We'll see if it gets the slows again.

MBH I dont know you and sure you are a good guy so dont take this personal but why even make a comment like that ?

RT owes us nothing and pays for this site to be up for free. Why is it that it always seems to be the same people complaining about the new site all the time ? If it is that bad why continue to visit ? Do you come for the people and atmosphere or for the board software ?

Do any of you know what is takes to manage a site of this size and believe me we are small comapred to allot of them out there. I can tell you I do, I own 2 hitech firms and it is a 24/7 thing and its not like RT has anything else to do like sell licensing or produce videos or answers to sponsors ect.

Why is it when other big sites go down for days their members come on and say he we missed you guys and some members here complain and threaten to leave ? It will take 12 months to work the bugs out on a site this size this does not happen over night. I am on dial up half the time and believe it is worth the wait as I like the site and members.

Sorry if that sounds harsh just amazes me that we have one of the best sites around and some feel they are owed something or want to dictate how a company that gives us a place to meet for free should spend their money.

your right, they don't owe us anything, but it would be nice if this place ran as smooth as it once did. or things would get fixed like they say they would, how many times have we heard "these things take time" and "be patient while we work out the bigs", going on 3 months now and nothing has been fixed yet.

not the same people, i actually was one of the FEW who liked the new format when it came out. but now it is just getting more and more frustrating as time passes.

i come here for the people and atmosphere, but how can i or anyone else who comes here not ignore the fact that since the change people have been leaving, less posts have been made, all because they are getting frustrated with the software??

not sure who here said they are "owed something" sure wasn't me, but i think some might agree that this place has become a part of our everyday lives and would like things to run smooth like they did before the change

and for the record, when someone makes this face :p it usually means i 'm kidding

See good things come to those who wait ! Just so members know you can be an IT guru and this software require 365 attention to support. I work with it allot and still only know about 30% of it.

I know Scott does not have 100% of his time to give to the site so I try and help him if and when I can and I know other do but we have to be patient, when setting up a new board like this it can take like I said 12 months. There are allot of "hacks" and tweaks to be added to the board to smooth things out and you get one done and it effects another.

Trust me it WILL get better.

MBH just to address one thing you said about people not posting and things going quite since the new board. I have to disagree the board upgrade was planned for after last years busy borad hunting season. I believe it is just quite do to that time of year people are outside more, look at the people viewing the lounge and Photo section it is packed !

Sooooo, you guys still like the change? I'm sick and tired of hearing, "it takes time, it will get better" and "they're working the kinks out". Never heard those words on the old format. How much "time" does it take?! Guys will still be saying that in a year, holding out hope that their prediction will come true. This new format blows, period.:p

Don't take offense, but our members are part of the problem. With all the large icons and signature images each member is using, the forums are obviously going to take longer to load. I've also mentioned before that we constantly have multiple threads on the same topic here. That too slows down the forums.

We removed the "Nocked n Loaded" banner on the right side because it was pretty large. That should speed things up a bit, but I won't take all the credit for slowing the forums.

Thanks for the input Mr. Admin.

It appears to me the pull down menus on the forums main page is what is slow to load. If you go in the individual rooms (lounge, bowhunting, classifieds, etc) the pages load fast because the pull downs aren't there. It only loads slow (for me) on the main forums overview page.

Just my $0.02....

Hopefully, there will be a faster, smoother experience here in the RT forums. It is frustrating...or this thread would not exist.

I'd have to agree with the administrator about the large icons and signatures of a lot of the users. I can't understand what it is about tattoos and piercings either! :D Bigger, badder, look at me....?

I am still not sure of why the text size is so tiny on IE and why all the wasted space to the right...........:(

Excuses are one thing and we're working on it is another...then again, actions speak louder than words...

Don't take offense and I hate to be the one to say this, because I know you must be pulling your hair out trying to fix these quirks, but the old(no good) forums that we had before, loaded much faster this, the majority of the time, and everyone had the same, if not fancier animated avatars and signatures. And what the heck do these sites like photobucket, and Hunt 101 do to accommodate all those fancy avatars and pictures. I mean, heck, that's all they have on there.

Even when a user makes a Brand new thread, with only one simple post(no avatar, no signature) it still takes time to load.:confused:

That one right there is the nature of the beast. That's what makes this place friendly and that's what a good forum is all about. New folks are always going to be asking old questions, over, and over again. That's one of the things that make this forum great....and...they get answered. :);)

One thing I have noticed also, is those who are fortunate enough to have a Mac computer, don't seem to be having the same problems as us ordinary joes, with the page load-up problems.
