Not sure if this will help those on dail-up. Under your User CP, then Edit Options. You have the option to NOT see sigs and avatars! Maybe this will help, but I doubt it, because I had these all switched to off and it didnt make a difference! Then again, its our fault!

Don't think that's it, because I've had those turned off for a long time, before the change over.:(

This server or new software is a total train wreck ... :(:( I don't think a T1 line on my end would help...

But that is the killer part Luke! AT has no problems! Look at the sigs and avatars over there!

I think its time for this webmaster to give the webmaster from AT a call and say, "Hey we need a little help here!"

Well folks, I guess it is what it is. There doesn't appear to be any effort to fix it or even any official acknowledgment that there is a problem. I guess we each have to figure out whether it is something we can live with or not. I have to admit that the frustration level is certainly rising everytime I have to sit there and wait, and wait, and wait for something to happen. I am finding myself spending more time at other sites simply because my patience is beginning to wear a little thin. It's an unfortunate turn of events, but apparently it is a situation that nobody can or will correct.

Absolutely incorrect. I've been discussing the slowness with Scott, and we're considering some possible solutions. I've also contacted the developers at vBulletin to see what can be done. If we could push a button and make things faster, we would have done that a long time ago. Unfortunately, it's not that simple - we'll probably need to throw some faster hardware at the problem.

One thing I have been doing lately is using the "Forum Jump" feature, it is at the bottom of almost every page you visit. Use it to stay away from the Main Page and everything loads rather quickly. I still say it is the pull downs on the Main Page that are slow......slow.......slow to load. If you look at the top of the Lounge page, or the Bowhunting page, there is no pull down menus, and these pages loads pretty fast....

Mr. Admin, does this make any sense?

Thanks,

T

Don't really see what all the whining is about, nor do I see what it accomplishes. The site is offered as a free site and the people who provide it have done a great job over the years. In comparing to other sites, I don't see much difference in how fast pages load here within the forums on forums to forums comparison. If talking about websites that are slow, RT is fairly quick in comparison to some.

Something I found to be helpful especially on dial up was to open multiple windows or tabs at a time and view one page and toggle back and forth while waiting for other pages to load. Still do that now even on dsl, even though threads, posts, and pages are really pretty quick to load.

I think we all just figured out how you have managed to reach 38,000+ posts William! :p:D

The "old, outdated" forums sure were fast. Change is not always a good thing. Still slow as molasses here.

Sometimes I have to wait a whole minute or so for a page to load. I can get up and go have a coffee, and it still ain't loaded.

I'm on Shaw Cable and it can be slow sometimes, but other sites, accept for a few seem fine. And I never had any problems with the old forums, different from what anyone else was experiencing at times.

What operating system to you have, and Browser. I have a hand built PC, and run IE7 now. But I switched to Firefox, just to gain a little speed.

I know IE7 is having problems in the area of downloading pages, so I think half the problem lies with them, and the other half with realtree's server. I'm just guessing though.

I also know that Scott and the web-master are doing everything they can to fix the problems. So other than letting them know there still is one, let's try to be patient. I know..it's driving me mad too.

Sorry folks, but I just can't hack it anymore. My level of patience has finally reached its limit. It's been a great bunch of years here, but sitting here waiting for a screen to start showing some kind of life is just getting way past anything that I can stand. instead of daily visits to this site, I'll be checking in every week or two for a while just to see if anything has changed.

It's a real shame. I always enjoyed this forum, but enough is enough.

I am in the process of having all the demons that exist in my computer eliminated. Working with a tech from a help site I was amazed at how much garbage and junk from those who find pleasure in messing up computers.

Anyway to make it short, my machine is flying. I think it is faster now than it ever was. EXCEPT when I show up here.

I virtually eliminated all cookies from obscure and unused websites and when clicking on them again they show up PRONTO! I have DSL and use both IE and Firefox.

I am with Doc on this one when he says it is a shame. My time is limited as it is and when you have to wait in that limit it is very frustrating. One thing I found that helps a little is to go down to forum jump to get back to the room you are in or elsewhere.

Hopefully, the administrator will come up with a solution to the problem.

I knew that it was eventually going to come to this with a lot of great folks on these forums. They (webmaster) have totally screwed things up, and have been way too slow with fixing the problems. I hope that they are reading these posts as well. I havn't been on here as much lately for the very reasons listed above, and have missed replying with some old friends on here that I'm afraid have left for good. It's just not right. :(

That's what the webmasters at the BassPro forums did in 2004...jacked up the forum and I found Realtree.com

Hope it doesn't keep heading that way here :(
