Master_Chief
I think smoking should be banned in all public places. There is nothing worse than walking out of an establishment and having to walk through the smokers. When I used to chew I would ask the smokers if they minded if I spit on them. They would get irate. I said Well your tobacco byproduct is getting on me.

MUDRUNNER
I'd like to place my vote for "Best post by a newbie" for the above quote. Well said man. I'll second that! You know what's kinda funny...When they had this on the news about the Illinois ban they said it was to help the workers in restaraunts and bars so they wouldn't have to inhale second hand smoke. At the perticular restaraunt they were doing the interview in they said all but 1 employee was a smoker. wtnhunt
This post is not about drinking and driving, lets save that for another thread. Problem is that some smokers use poor discretion and have no sense of when and where is appropriate, and well really seem like they could care less that they bother others. What puts their rights above those who do not want to be around it? Why should non smokers have to be subject to that? Kind of on this same topic, some states have implemented laws in regards to children in autos with smokers. Have to agree with that too. It is not FAIR to those who chose not to smoke to be subjected to it. Think some health issues have been proven to have been linked to second hand smoke exposure. Texan_Til_I_Die
She's not a man Eric. Where's the smiley for a blush! Hey Ms. Wildside, sounds to me like you would be an asset to the Politics forum. Be sure to check in there when you have an opportunity. Actually, I was flattered by the compliments from Muggs and Mudrunner about my post, and I got a big chuckle when I saw Andrea's simple one-sentence clarification! mike
NO, I am sorry, but sometimes it is not as simple as that. Sometimes there are places you have to go and really have little or no choice. Perfect example, going to a store to get a prescription for your kid who is sick. You get to the doors and there are a group of inconsiderate people standing outside the door with their smoke blowing in yours and your kids faces. In my opinion that type of thing should be banned. Sorry to disagree william but thats not the states job its the owner of the store that does not allow smoking in the store but allows it on his property by the entrance. imho if you own the property big bro goverment shouldn't be allowed to decide this one since it is legal to smoke. by the way its been almost 3 mnths since i quit! Not so sure that the stores allow it, the smokers just seem to do it, and it is not the employees of the store either.
