gitcha_some
Well it was this week or not at all, but i finally got the plots in today. Planted an acre of tecomate alfa-feast in a real great spot for deer, then planted an acre and a half of sorghum with about 30 pounds of sunflowers mixed in all around the edge and by the telephone wires, the sorghum plot is next to our new pond ( ducks, geese, doves ) that we just had put in for irrigation, so watering both of these plots wont be problem at all, irrigation is a beautiful thing guys LoL Ill post some pics of the plots as soon as we get some prouts goin, started raining as i was finishing up with the planting so it shouldnt take long, wish me luck! Also if anyone has planted sorghum before, whats a good herbicide for grass prevention? im a little worried that some phragmites might start growing since its near the pond. dogdoc
can't wait to see the pics. I don't know of any grass herbicide that you can use that won't kill the sorghum. You can use a broadleaf like 2,4D but it won't kill any unwanted grass.
gitcha_some
yeah thats what i was afraid of, oh well hopefully when i fertilize it, it will outgrow the weeds and crowd them out
wtnhunt
Look forward to seeing some pics. Usually plant beans and peas with sorghum here. The sorghum shoots up pretty quick.
gitcha_some
fertilized yesterday with 18-24-12....odd numbers but it was free so im not complaining, plus its pretty good for a starter fertilizer right after i finished we got about a 1/4 inch of rain which isnt bad, but i was really mad that the bulk of the storm missed my plots by a half mile, they got over an inch of rain there, really couldve used it here.....o well, ill take pics for you guys when its starts growin good
