Nest cam

Kind of got the idea for this from Lukes post. Rigged up a camera yesterday in the shed over the nest that I am about sure now is a bluebirds nest and not a robins nest despite the eggs being colored very similarly to a robin.

Few pics of the setup.

Few pics of the bird at the nest, unfortunately the pics were not so great, but hopefully will get some better ones today. Looks like the tail is up in both pics. Got a few more, but they were kind of dark. Had the flash turned off and the iso speed set to the fastest setting on this cam, at 400. Turned the flash on this morning and moved the cam a little closer.

Looks like a bluebird to me guys. Guess they do nest in places aside from bluebird houses and the eggs that looked like robin eggs are close to the same color, but are indeed from bluebirds. Checked and went on and pulled the cam this morning, last pics were yesterday morning not long after I had checked it, got two pics about an hour apart with flash on low, and it was just enough to help for ID'ing purposes. Afraid the flash might scare the bird off if I continue to leave it, but kind of wonder why or if the fence charger light and hum does not bother the bird:confused:. Might try putting this cam back out there at a later date in time closer to hatching time.

Those are some great shot's as well ... :)

Thanks Luke. Second try on the setup on the cam did the trick, and as of about an hour ago, the kids and I watched what I am pretty sure was two different birds fly to the nest, guessing a male and female. So guess my intrusion with the camera did not bother them too bad.

Took a pic yesterday of the chicks, cannot hardly see in there for the roof being so close(cannot squeeze my head in tight enough to see), but I held the camera up as close to the roof as possible. Looks like they all hatched.

Pic of inside the nest from last week.
