Guest andymansavage
This happened last night in the canyon near my home. A couple weeks ago I posted pics of a four wheeler trip I took in the same area. Very, very sad. http://www.deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,665194630,00.html Andy

buckee
Terrible news. My condolences to the poor family. I've always said, the most dangerous bear (especially black bears) is a bear that is too familiar with humans. It's just a matter of time, before they get bold enough to do what they will. My nephew was mauled by a black bear, while trout fishing, here a few years back, but he got lucky, and just got rolled over a few times, before the bear decided to leave. He played dead, which really isn't what you are supposed to do with black bears, but like I said..he got real lucky. His last recollection was smelling the awful stench of the bear and seeing the flies buzzing around it's butt as it walked away, after rolling him over a few times. Shaun_300
Wow! That is horrible. I've found up here the black bears aren't as nervous around humans as they used to be. I always carry slugs with me if I'm bird hunting and not carrying a rifle. Even if I go for a walk in the woods and I'm not hunting, I always have a gun. My prayers and condolences to the boy's family.
