wtnhunt
Anyone in the market for a new rifle might check their local wal marts. Not sure if it is everywhere, but here wal mart had several rifles on clearance, I am assuming to make room for new arrivals. They had four or five remington 700 adl's one in a .270 and one in a 30-06 not sure what caliber the others were, but those model 700 adl's were all marked down to $375. Also had several others on the sheet that were on clearance, about 2 dozen rifles total.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Yep, my local store has about 6 or 7 different models on sale. There really wasn't anything I was interested in, so I passed. The only thing that tempted me was a Weatherby Vanguard in 300 Weatherby Magnum.
wtnhunt
Hurry up n.y. had a sale about 2 years, after they sold all they had they did not get anymore in stock... Not the case here, this store is in the top 500 in firearms sales and will continue to keep its guns for now. They had some new rifles that just came in that were in the back, they were making room from what I understand. The counter guy said they had new remington 700's in camo versions to replace the old synthetic stock rifles. I was interested in the 700 adl with the laminated wood stock, but the price on it was actually up to $500 something from where it had been $468 last time I looked. When I asked him, he said the manager may clearance it too later as more new rifles come in, to check back.

We were told our local Walmart would NOT clear the gun shelves. Its a big gun sales store too. Pretty much everyone in this area hunts and they sale out of guns on a regular basis. Anyway, I was told they were not going to quit sales and low and behold, last week they cleared the shelves. This Walmart was recently rebuilt and when it happened they added a bigger display case to carry a higher volume. Now they are full of paint ball guns. The manager told my dad that Walmart may very well quit carrying ammo in the VERY near future. He said there is already behind the scenes talk going on about it. wtnhunt
Guess only time will tell Jeramie. With the around 2 dozen or so guns they had clearance priced, they had considerably more in the case that were still regular price so it was not like they were clearing out all of them. I talk with the regular counter guy pretty well every time I am in the store, but he was not there yesterday, was some newer guy I dont know working back there. Last time I talked with regular counter guy, he said he did not think his store was in jeopardy any time in the near future, but he did say that there would eventually come a time down the road where he could see that they would no longer carry guns. At this point they make way too much money there to give them up. In the meanwhile, I will keep checking back in to see if they mark down the rifle I want. That was just a verbal from a behind the counter salesman but if you look at the others (target, kmart, sears, etc) Walmart would be following suit.
