texastrophies
I would say you probably have got your money's worth out of that one and ought to go ahead and replace it before it leaves you hung out to dry somewhere. fairly cheap insurance. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Four Wheeler Batteries Yep, a new battery is what - $25 - $30? I wouldn't take a chance on getting left afoot 5 or 6 miles from camp. Of course if you never take it more than 5 or 6 hundred yards from camp.... JimT
Re: Four Wheeler Batteries I have had mine in since 2001. Has not let me down yet. Our WalMart has batteries for $30.00.
wtnhunt
Re: Four Wheeler Batteries Dont go cheap!!! Get the yuasa or whatever factory replacement they suggest. It would be a HUGE mistake not to use what they suggest. We put a cheapy wal mart battery on our 1987 model honda back in I think 1995 and it first fried the starter and then fried the fuel pump and later ended up having a lot more electrical problems. Later on down the road the entire electrical system ended up being totally fried, would cost more to fix it now then what the thing is worth. The mechanic I used to take the 4 wheeler to told us the cheap batteries do not have a high enough amperage and that is why they burn everything up. Swamphunter
Re: Four Wheeler Batteries I made the mistake this year and got a cheapo and it is already leaking acid. I am gonna get a sealed battery next year for it. I have a sealed one in my motorcycle and really like it.
snapper
Re: Four Wheeler Batteries First...I'd say 5 years is about average. Second, I agree with the other posts about buying a walmart (cheapo) battery...take your old battery to a bike shop and get a replacement from them. I just purchased (last week) an interstate battery for my quad, cost me around $54. Last thing, make sure you get a battery to terminals on top that you can just put a bolt with a nut on it. My last two battery's had the bolt going down through the terminal with a nut enclosed in the terminal. Well the terminal studs are made from lead and the nut just spun around. Couldn't get a wrench on the nut and no way to loosen the bolt to get the cable off. You'll pay a few dollars more the other type of battery, but well worth in my opinion.
