Swamphunter
I am in the market for a recoil pad for my 30-06. What is a good one on the market right now?
wtnhunt
Pachmayr decelerator pads are great if they have one for your rifle in the ready to put on application, here is a link http://www.lymanproducts.com/pachmayr/index.htm. The limb saver pads are ok, but not as good in my opinion.
EKYhunter
I have used the simms on an A-bolt 300 wsm, a Browning Gold 12 gauge, and an Encore .50 cal ML. I don't see how anything could be better, but that's just my opinion and experience.

wtnhunt
I don't see how anything could be better, but that's just my opinion and experience. Have you ever tried a pachmayr pad? My daughter and wife both shoot a .243, two different rifles. My oldest daughters rifle is a browning a bolt microhunter, I put the limbsaver pad on it only because the pachmayr was not available for it in a ready fit application. The wifes rifle is a savage model 10 and I put a pachmayr pad on it. The pachmayr is a lot softer or more cushioned feeling and in my opinion does better at dampening the recoil. The difference in the two is noticeable. I have the limbsaver pad on my 1300 12 gauge and it helps, but if they had a pachmayr for it in a ready fit, I would change it out. Might still get a grind to fit pad and change it out anyways.
strubedog
xcoil puts the limbsaver to shame. Have had both
too_pointer
Looks like you have a few choices. I can't comment on some I have not tried. I also have 3 Limbsavers, and think they work great, and won't break the bank ever ! I have no experience with the others, but sure they are fine. too_
Strut10
I have a Limbsaver on an 8 1/2 lb. .375 Wby. and it handles the rearward acceleration quite well.
terminator
I have a Limbsaver on an 8 1/2 lb. .375 Wby. and it handles the rearward acceleration quite well. I got a limbsaver on my 338 Win Mag and have 0 complaints.

johnf
I have a limbsaver on my Benelli Nova and a Pachmayr decelerator on my daughter's 7mm-08. Both work great, but it's a bit like apples and oranges with the two guns. The-7-08 has absolutely no felt recoil (less than a 22lr), but it also has a custom ported barrel. CrAzYCoYoTe
But would a high quality inexpensive recoil pad help with something like a .375 h&h mag???
CrAzYCoYoTe
Im not too keen on the 7-08 but how much recoil does a ported barrel reduce plz fill me in.
