Turkeygirl
Well I just got home, we finished up home staff training at camp this afternoon and staff is off until Sunday at 12pm..campers come at 3pm Sunday. Been a long, fun, exhausting week. Only downside being my back is still bothering me a little so I'm going back to the chiropractor tomorrow. Basically home staff training is comprised of meetings, teaching lessons to each other that we teach to kids, lesson planning, meals in between, getting the camp and supplies ready, trips, and what not. I came home though to fresh strawberry pie, very cute bunnies (we had 3 rabbits give birth last weekend), and my BED!!!!!!!!!!!

Squirrelhunter91
Hey Ruth.. I'm really looking forward to camp on Sunday. I have a few questions for you though on what to expect.. 1) What kind of archery range setup do they have? Is it like a 3D course or a bunch of big targets? Also, do they take my bows from me and lock them up and I only get to see them when we shoot? 2) What kind of fishing do they do up there? Lakes, streams, rivers? Should I bring live bait? 3) What do we sleep in? Tents or shacks? Sorry for all these questions, but I kinda wanna know what to expect. I'm not positive on set-up for archery...I'm guessing big targets and maybe some 3D targets (Rushford does Archery, though just on Returnee week, and they got a 3D deer target). I'd also say they will take your bow and lock it up, they do here if any kids bring their bows, but Pack is also a different age group then here so they may not but if may be a general camp rule to lock up camper's bows. 2). Pack has a lake with bass, perch, and pickerel/pike. When we were up there for JST, one of the guys caught a pickerel I believe on a crankbait or something of that sort. 3). They have large cabins for sleeping in (not like log cabins) that split into two sides with like 6-8 sets of bunk beds in each side, and there is a wooden trunt for each person to put stuff in. Let me know if ya have any more questions...and enjoy yourself! Pack Forest is actually bringing in a couple weeks of 12-14 yr old kids and I guess word is they may phase out the 15-17 year old program and just have 12-14 yr olds like the other camps. Here's a link to a generic schedule at Pack: http://www.dec.ny.gov/education/2021.html Your optionals/electives will probably be like fishing time or shooting or cabin time and other activities. There is a link on that page that goes to another page describing the classes and such.
