First off he will belong to my 4 year old and 2 year old , but I want to train him to blood trail wounded deer . archerjg
Congratulations on the new dog. Train him to find the scent that you want like you would a beagle. Use a tea strainer looks like a little metal egg with lots of holes or something similar and introduce the scent to the dog. Then just place it around the yard at different spots and have the dog find it after it knows the scent. Make sure using dogs to track is legal in your state first though. Here in Maryland at least where I am at it is not legal. Archerjg
stevebeilgard
way to go on the new pup. just earn his love, and he'll do the right thing for you
kuntryboy
Thanks , yes using a dog is legal down here . I don't understand why it would not be legal to track shot animals that run off . Down here it greatly increases the recovery rate on animals . Dogs can go where alot of hunters can't or just won't go ! The briar thickets and swampy botoms are not to hunter friendly if you know what I mean !!
