dogdoc
to get this dog in a cold duck blind! My new "hunting" dog has now become my girls living doggy doll. They dress her up in doll clothes--and the dog is now sleeping in one of their baby cribs woe is me ! todd
huntinsonovagun
Re: I\'m never going... HAHA.....I knew you weren't man enough to say what's up. (Must be the look on the girls' faces, so I'll give that to you. ) Best thing to do.....put the dog outside!!! I do wish my dog was allowed to come in at times though...... ruttinbuc
Re: I\'m never going... He may turn out to be the best little hunter ever. Your girls are only children once. What more than a puppy to enrich that childhood? Looks like a group training session is in order.

HuntingInMaine
Re: I\'m never going... LOL that's so cute! I have a serious question though....a friend and I were talking about a beagle puppy he got a few months ago. He said the dog needed to be put outside to "toughen him up" or he wouldn't be a good rabbit dog. I thought that if the dog is going to be a good hunter then it was almost a genetic kind of thing and as long as he is trained to hunt, a comfy place to sleep at night isn't going to soften him. I have never had a hunting dog, so I have no first hand experience, but it just seems cruel to keep a dog outside all the time. I use to watch Hunting with Hank, and that dog was a great bird dog AND spoiled rotten (or at least that is what they showed on the program) So, my question is this: Do the dogs need to be "toughened up" or is it just as possible to have a great hunting dog even if your daughters put him in a cradle? Palssonater
Re: I\'m never going... I was raised a country kid so when I got my dog I figured that I would just have him outside with a nice kennel run and a insulated doghouse right through the winter like we have done for years. Well it wasn't long before I was bringing that cute pup in for night. First the breezeway, next the kitchen. Now, he has a thin coat and sleeps comfortably between Jenn and I at night. He is now full time inside. I am such a wuss! But he had a heck of a first hunting year last year. Did great and loves training!

billygoat
Re: I\'m never going... Softies... My pointer thinks she owns our house... and mainly "her" couch. But there's no soft foot about her... she loves the field and goes all day. There's nothing wrong with "pampering" a dog.
