Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
all good picks, except with the year Magglio ordonez is having, it'll be a shame if he isn't a starter.
MCH
I know I'm a little bit biased but there's no way McCann should start over Russell Martin. Russell Martin is the best catcher in the NL. No contest.
Chrud
No way Pujols should be starting at 1B. Prince Fielder has had MUCH better numbers this year. Plus, his team has been in first (much thanks to him) for almost the entire year.

MCH
NL: C- Martin 1b- Fielder 2b- Utley SS- Rollins(close call with Reyes) 3B- Cabrera OF- Holiday OF- Lee OF- Griffey AL: C- Martinez 1B- Morneau 2B- Hill SS- Cabrera 3B- Rodriguez OF- Ordonez OF- Guerrero OF- Hunter I hate the fact that the All-star game is all about popularity. A guy should get the starting spot if he's the best player at that position right now. Not over the past 5 years. And not because he just happens to play in a big market. I'm all for letting those type of players fill the bench, but the starter should be the best player. What I really find funny is that during our Realtree Fantasy Draft, people were asking who the heck Russell Martin and Cole Hamels was. And guess what?? They're all-stars. OH I agree with you, its all about popularity. Bottom line I just want the NL to win and I dont care how they do it or whom they do it with. You are correct about Hamels and Martin, I was happy to draft them very late in my fantasy league, and I got the same responses "who are those guys", I just smiled. Oh they all know now.:D
rhine16
NL Catch- McCann (the only Brave that might actually get pushed into the lineup) 1B- Pujols (yes Fielder has had a great first half, but Pujols is the best hitter baseball has seen in years.) 2B-Utley 3B-Jones (I cant vote against him.) SS-Reyes OF-Soriano OF-Griffey OF-Francoeur SP-Penny or Peavy AL Catch-Pudge 1B-Ortiz 2B-Polanco 3B-Rodriguez SS-Jeter OF-Ordonez OF-Ramirez OF-Matthews Jr (will never happen, but he's had a good first half) SP-Verlander, Beckett, or Sabathia Can you tell i'm a Braves fan? I've just realized that a bunch of "all stars" are having down years.

muggs
Russell Martin is not only the best catcher in the NL, I'm willling to argue he's the best all-around player in the NL. He's without a doubt the best player on the Dodgers and don't just take my word for it, Peter Gammons feels the same way. Here's who I think deserves to go. NL- C- Russ Martin 1B- Prince Fielder 2B- Brandon Phillips (guy's on pace for a 30-30 year) SS-Jose Reyes 3B-Miguel Cabrera (best hitter in the majors) OF- Griffey OF- Holiday OF- Lee SP- Penny AL- C-Martinez 1B-Morneau 2B-Brian Roberts SS- Derek Jeter 3B- ARod OF- Alex Rios OF- Tori Hunter OF- Magglio Ordonez SP- CC Sabathia

Just like the MVP. Hasn't Bonds got the MVP many years when his team was not in the race. While I do not agree with him getting it cause his team was not in the race that's how it works on individual awards. On a side note the nl central is pathetic this year and if the cardinals could get a few more players on the dl, they are going to have to start taking fans out of the stand to make a full team. And the goal of the All-Star game is to win, so I would go with the guy with more HR's, RBI's and Runs. Just so happens he's on the best team in the Central too. Fielder is leading at 1B and I hope he gets it. I think JJ Hardy is a close second at SS too. Cordero should be the closer and Sheets should get in as a pitcher. That would be great to see 4 Brewers make the All-Star team. The Central is really something. Milwaukee was 24-10, with a 7 or 8 game lead. Then they fell to 34-30, still with a 6 or 7 game lead. Sure they had a really bad 30 game stretch, but only lost 1 game in the Central. I don't care if they even win a game in the Playoffs, I just want to see them make it. And the goal of the All-Star game is to win YES YES the goal is to WIN, NOT TIE!! As I stated above I want the NL to win and I dont care how they do it or whom they do it with. But I don't think Fielder is the better player. And what his current team standings is has nothing to do with him making the team. But we could debate this forever. But I'm sure they both will be there and get to play.

It is the 2007 All-Star game, and based on those stats you posted, I would say the best 1B in 2007 is Fielder, at least in run production, which is needed to win.:D

You've only been talking about him on here since he was in diapers. LMAO.:D I just remember the quote from someone along the lines of: Cole Hamels? Russell Martin? Come on guys. This is going to be too easy if ya'll keep picking no-name players.

buckbuster11
In a pink bottle right?
muggs
Yeah, a pink bottle. A pink bottle with a cannon for an arm, a great field general, hits for a high average, gets on base, drives in runs, has good power and has enough speed to hit triples and steal bases- a rarity for a backstopper. Kid is a stud, but seriously- if guys are gonna draft Russell Martin ("way to early" as you said John) I don't even want to be a part of this league. btw- what's up with the two Ohio buddies running the friggin' show in this league anyway? I thought this was going to be challenging? What gives? btw2- I'd say this league is mine if it wasn't for Matt's squad. His is scary good. MCH
Come on, muggsy. I'm the sixth place team and I'm just 4 games back. That's not exactly running the show.:D And after I whoop up on John and you two guys whoop up on each other, I figure I'll be looking pretty good, too.
buckbuster11
Please. There are only 12 games separating 9 teams, 4 games separating the top 6 and as soon as half my team comes off the DL I'll be back in the mix. BTW---the season isnt half over yet. BTW2--The last time you were tooting your horn like this was when your Ohio State Buckeyes were going to have the National Championship wrapped up by halftime remember? Unfortunately I seem to remember them getting flattened faster then a small bug under a semi and Troy Smith having a higher sack number then QB rating. Don't get to cocky yet. muggs
For the last two months+ first place has belonged to either me or Matt, that's running the show. Just because a few games seperate us doesn't mean anything except for the fact that the bye team is skewing the numbers. There's a few teams that are garbage, like that team that's named after Big Ben for example.
