wtnhunt
Maybe someone here can help me out with this. Not sure if I am having software or hardware issues, but something is up with my dvd writer. Computer has 1 gb of memory, and 3 ghz of processor speed, would think it should be plenty enough for viewing pics. Have considered adding more memory and taking it to 2 gbs, think it would help. When saving or loading pics to a dvd it is incredibly slow, and sometimes seems to bog down when loading large files from the dvd with a lot of pics and it sometimes locks up. Not sure why, the computer does not do this with large memory cards, which makes me think it is either the dvd writer or the software for it. Anyone have any ideas? VermontHunter
Sure sounds like a software issue William ... have you checked to see if there is an update for your DVD Writer ( software or Hardware Driver ) ?? This might be a start for ya...
toddyboman
sounds like you have enough computer power to do it. Has it always been slow or just started? Luke may be on to something with downloading updates(software or driver).
Tominator
The speed of your DVD might be an issue too. That's what it sounds like to me.

Just checked and the dvd re writes I have been using are only 1-4 speed while the writer is a 16X dvd re-writer. Will check and see if there are any updates for the software though anyways, but looks like the speed of the dvd's for data is probably on the slow side and may very well be why I am having problems. mossyhorn
Yeah I would check the speed first if tthat is not the issue then maybe it is a driver error. Check for updates on the website of the hardware maker. If you have the most current drivers then I would uninstall the device and try installing it again. Maybe a file just got currupt during the install.
wtnhunt
Have looked around online some and not finding any higher read or write speed rewriteable faster than 4X. Is that the fastest available for dvd rw's? Driver update through windows said that the current driver is the best currently available for that hardware, so guessing that is not the problem.
