huntinguide
Well i have a 30ft pontoon boat its pretty much a barge, its nothing more than a deck and a a motor. We use it too run jugs and and thats about it. I got the idea to turn it into a floating duck blind a big one too. There are many times that there is 6 or more of use heading out to the lake and with the water being 8+ feet up it will be hard too walk in. I am basically going to build an aluminum box with flip down shooting windows and line the whole thing with canvas so the wind doesnt bite us. Also going to weld some cattle panels too the frame so we can tie camo on. Should be cool i get some pics up soon.

double_drop
that sounds awesome. We are in the process of buying a 14 foot pontoon with low profile pontoons on it and we are going to build it up as a duck boat. I can't wait should be able to hunt 4 out of it super nice. Bow Hunter Derek
That's going to make a GIANT blind. Maybe too big. By too big I mean it might just look completely wrong sticking out of the water unless you find the right back drop. For what it is worth, I'd consider a slightly different strategy. I'd look at making it into a low profile grass island. Basically, I'd consider using field layout blinds on the deck (either buy them or make your own frames) and then grass the entire boat. I'd have grass panels along the edges that could be flipped up while under motion and then flipped down into the water at rest. Put a grass cover over the motor and the driver's console too. The result would be a low profile grass mound with good visibility that would look as good along shore as it would in open water. Heck you might even have ducks trying to land ON it. Just an idea. huntinguide
i understand where you are coming from and it has crossed my mind, but most of our hunting is on the edges of timber and in willows so for the most part i think it will work. Our lakes here are riddled with stumps and floating debris so im hoping ill look like a willow lay down or a tree island. Ill be able to unbolt and remove for the summer catfish so ill see how it goes for a season.
