gowest
After 3 tough years in Georgia, I am being transferred to St. Louis, MO. Can anyone give me some insight about the bowhunting in Missouri and where I might be able get started? It is almost July and I am starting from scratch. Thanks. BowJoe
I also heard of several counties around the St. Louis area that are really overpopulated. Are you going to live in MO or IL? If you live in IL then there's tons of places around Fairview Heights and on the outskirts of East St. Louis. I don't know about the St. Charles area. The good news is that they have both a new Bass Pro and Cabela's in the immediate area.
Guest Ironhorse
If you want to hunt IL, I think you are too late to apply for nonresident tags. There are several Conservation Areas in and near St. Louis County that offer managed archery hunts. I believe that the registration just opened for them. You almost have to get out of the metro area to get at public ground that is open to hunting. The Missouri Department of Conservation's web site can give you a pretty good handle of what is available. Private ground permission can be a little tough to get. Leasing is also possible, but tough to come by. There is club out of Kansas City (can't remember the exact name) that leases several thousand acre in MO, KS and IA that probably has ground within a couple hour drive of St. Louis.
