OK guys, I just got back from the coolest long range shooting course I have ever been to. I was introduced to the Chey Tac .408 M-200 Intervention system. I engaged 12" steel plates at 900, 1600, and 2000 yards. I took 3 shots to nail the first 900 yard target. I hit the last two with the first shots. The key to the system is the new .408 Chey Tac cartridge which has incredible down range performance and the ABC ballistic computer system that takes in consideration all of the environmental conditions to include the earth's rotation. The .408 appears to be far superior than the .50 BMG. It's parent case is the 505 Gibbs.

The Chey-Tac cartridges were designed from the ground up as looooong range stompers. I'd love to have a bolt gun chambered for this cartridge.

Here's a size comparison of the 408 CT with the 419gr copper solid along side the 402gr ball with a 300WinMag for comparison.

From what I have been told this round was developed to allow snipers to legally engage human targets from extreme distances. I think it has something to do with not being able to engage a human target with a 50 caliber round. I am far from a Geneva Convention expert, but this is how it was told to me. All that aside it should also make for an outstanding whitetail cartridge and maybe save someones life from a charging prairie dog. LOL
