toddyboman
I was curious style of stands do you hunt from the most...
wtnhunt
Not sure how to answer Todd. Really kind of depends on the season. Mostly use homemade ladder steel ladder stands outside of bow season, use the climber the most during bow season.
Tominator
Mostly from my Summit climber, but do use Tom's ladder and lock on stands every now and then.
huntinguide
man this is a hard question..... i use them all but use a climber the most but it depends on the terrain. I use a ground blind almost all other times because the terrain doesnt offer any other cover.
toddyboman
I was just curious what a majority of you all use. I would say I use a ladder stand a lot. I do have a climber i will use when I have found a new spot to hunt. But since I have hunted on our family farm for so many years we really already have a good idea on where the deer will be during the season. They may need tweaked a little each summer but generally they are set up and ready to go.
Guest Finn
for me: Homemade then ladders then lock ons
rhine16
Well i use all of em depending on weather conditions and my mood and season, but mostly climber.
revhard
i use mostly my climber, but recently inthe last two years i have gotten into the hang ons. They are quieter, and you can slip into them quick and without a sound.Expecially on the pressed for time afternoons after work. But climbers are great also, exspecially when patterns change abruptly, and you gotta move too.

BigCheeky
I've never hunted out of a climber or a lock on stand. I've hunted out of ladder stands, the ground and box stands. My dad has built a hunting "condo" that we "hunt" out of some too. We put back up an old box stand that someone had left on the property that he bought. I'll have to post some pictures of my dad's stand when i get a chance. Todd's seen it, I think it's pretty impressive.

BigCheeky
Yeah its very impressive. Pictures need to be posted of his condo on stilts.:D Alright....I am back with pictures. #1 - You can see the porch and the windows. They open fully to shoot out of. #2 - Closer view. #3 - During the construction phase. This is what you see coming in off the field road. Quite a ways off the gravel road. #4 - A view of the interior during the construction. We were cleaning up a bit. Now there are 2 recliners in there (one of course is camo). Can't beat hunting out of recliner. This was the only interior shot I had on my computer right now. I'll have to get more updated ones next time I go out to the farm. johnf
That's the second nicest one I've ever seen. The nicest was just way over the top, not really hunting at all. Pretty neat set-up none the less.

Rhino
Now that's what you call a shooting house David. Heck you could spend days in there at a time. As far as the original pole question goes, I voted hang on stand but it's hard to say what I really use most of the time these days. Most of my bowhunting is from hang on stands but I use climbers and natural ground blinds too. For firearm hunting I use hang ons, ladders, climbers, blinds, shooting houses and a trophy chair on a tree at ground level. The older I get though, the more I'm inclined to hunt from a ladder or from ground level with a firearm. I'm slowly adding to my inventory of ladder stands now. I recently bought 2 more 20' New Millennium style ladder stands. I still prefer a hang on over anything else for bowhunting though.
