buckee
Just a test folks. How many of you using IE7 are noticing a change of speed this morning? How long do you figure it's taking pages to load for you, by counting 1-1,000, 2-1,000, 3-1,000 ? Using IE7, it took me 8-10 seconds to open a page in the forums or back space. The longest was 16-19 seconds seconds in the last 45 minutes. Using Firefox, it took me 3-5 seconds.
toddyboman
At work I use IE7 at home I use Firefox and I will agree that Firefox at home is a lot faster.
wtnhunt
it is running a bit slow this morning here Steve. I am on ie 7, just refreshed the who's online page and it took 5 seconds to load, also went into the lounge in a different tab and it took between 5 and 6 seconds. replying to posts goes a little quicker. Those times were taken with my watch right in front of me too, watching the second hand.
wtnhunt
Also just timed the quick reply when I posted that, and it took between 2 and 3 seconds. If they have swapped over to a new server, sorry to say it has not made a difference.

Gator
I'm using IE7, and whenever I load the forums, it takes a bit before I can do ANYTHING, even change web pages, about 10 sec to load

Griz
Steve it seems to run slow for me. When I first pull up the forums it will pop up but it won't let me scroll or anything for a good minute or so... It may be me. But I'm not real sure... What is IE7 or Firefox? How do you tell which one your on... Is this a trick question...
bigmoss
It seems to be the banner ads to the right of the forum page that slows things down and hangs. I have told Scott about it and he has forwarded it on to the web guys so I am sure it will get fixed.

When I first pull up the forums it will pop up but it won't let me scroll or anything for a good minute or so... It may be me. But I'm not real sure... It's not you, trust me What is IE7 or Firefox? How do you tell which one your on... Is this a trick question... IE7 is "Internet Explorer 7". It's the software internet browser that comes with Windows. Motzilla Firefox, is an alternate browser you can download, and use as your browser, instead of IE7. I have Firefox on my desktop. I have my homepage on Firefox, set to Realtree.com, so I can come straight here. And I have another shortcut on my desktop to Realtree.com, using IE7

They don't take up any more space to download, than any other picture posted in here.

I think they have known what the problem has been for a long time but have not yet fixed it for whatever reasons.

buckee
Banner ads AND the pull down menus on the forums home page...... What banner ads are you guys talking about? The home page or the forums? There are no banner ads in the forum, just a gray, blank stripe down the right hand side of the pages. The home page is a seperate entity to the forums, and does not effect forum page loading speeds.
VermontHunter
NO different here,,, still hangs between posts and pages... But hey !! for FREE I'll live with it... Still the best place around;)

Hey Steve, I'm not talking the RT homepage, I'm talking the Forums homepage. http://www.realtree.com/forums/index.php The drop down menus (in the wood grain backdrop just below the RT.com logo) at the top are the last thing to load for me usually, and the banner ad (s) appear to have been deleted.....they were there earlier..... OK, now I see what you mean about the drop-down menue, being the last thing to load. Especially using IE7, but that dropdown menue isn't on the other pages, and they are slow too. Ohiobucks
OK, now I see what you mean about the drop-down menue, being the last thing to load. Especially using IE7 Yep, the drop down menus are only on the Forums homepage, not in the individual rooms (lounge, bowhunting, classifieds, etc.) Get rid of the drop downs Mr. Admin and see if that helps......probably won't. VermontHunter
I think this speed issue might have to do with the refresh rate of these forums.... Example ... This is NOT CORRECT ... Welcome, VermontHunter. You last visited: 5 Days Ago at 04:31 PM Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 15. I might be wrong tho,,, it wouldn't be the first time ... :D
