Guest coydog316
I just got back from checking my cameras and when I downloaded my pics I got a real surprise.........two guys that are not supposed to be anywhere near my place let alone on it were standing on my mineral site and staring at the camera. How am I supposed to get deer to stay around my sanctuaries when I got guys walking through it . who are not even supposed to be there? It makes me tired. Any ideas? slughunter
Did you get a clear picture of their faces, if you did then maybe you can match it up to a neighbor or someone in the area that you have met or seen before. I would also contact the authorities and give them a copy of the picture so they have something to work with in trying to find out who did it. I would consider yourself luck they didnt take your camera. -shane
Guest coydog316
I am thankful they didn't take it but it still doesn't make me feel any better that they are there you know. You see I also lost a treestand last fall on this same farm. I know some coonhunters that said they would come and take a look at the pictures and see if they could recognize the guys. I don't have anything against coon hunters or coon hunting, but I wish they would just ask for permission before they go in just any woods. HOYTnMUZZYboy
I half to agree with slughunter. Your lucky they didn't take your camera. I have had people in and out of the property that I own and hunt, it's pretty much impossible to keep everyone out. It seems like around here the only thing fences are good for are keeping the cattle in the pasture. And like the old saying goes "Locks are only for honest people." A buddy of mine had one of is trail cams smashed to pieces from someone that wasn't suppose to be on his property. People dont respect other peoples things anymore. Good luck keeping pesky people out!

Make copies and send them a picture, also state that they were on private land. Oh, dont forget to mention that the police now have a copy as well! But then I would either take down or move the camera!

Would probably let the police handle it, but would definitely also move the camera.
Bownarow
I'd definitly remove the camera until you get this deal straightened out. I know what it's like to have tresspassers. Of course I didn't get to see the picture that my camera took of them b/c they decided to take the camera.
christsavedme
We have had this problem a couple of times over the last couple of years on my dad's place. It was the kids from a local house that were trespassing. Last year we got a picture of them on one cam and then another cam down the road came up missing. Turned it over to the police and they handled the problem. We ended up getting the camera back. I would definately see if the local law enforcement could help you out! Guest coydog316
Thanks guys for the help, I just got done talking to the local CO, and he said to identify them, and contact the local prosecutor. Another thing he told me was they(coonhunters) can not say that they have a right to retrieve there dogs on your property after they turned them loose. I still might yet get me some coondogs! the missus might not like it though:rolleyes:
hycohounds
are you implying that you would steal their coon dogs? how would you be any different than the tresspassers/....tony

How am I supposed to get deer to stay around my sanctuaries when I got guys walking through it . who are not even supposed to be there? It makes me tired. Any ideas? I had the same problem a few years ago. Coon hunters would actually run my land at night, build camp fires, throw beer cans in my food plots & some times I'd find dead coons in the plots. I politely confronted them & told them I didn't appreciate it & not to come back. I went and informed the property owner from which I lease the land. I haven't had a problem in a couple of years. If it were me I'd politely go directly to them myself & BE POLITE about it the first time. I'm not one to go run to the authorities right off the bat. Show them the pictures & politely tell them what you are trying to do & you don't appreciate them messing up your hunting area. After that they are fair game for the cops if you catch them again. No if ands or buts about it. Have them fined up if you catch them again because they've been warned.
Guest boiler room
My opinion is you tresspass on my property with your dogs and for some unknown reason your dog gets lost and i find it, are you coming to my house to ask for your dog back? Especially if i have your picture on camera! I would hope you wouldn't have the guts to come ask for it! You would meet our local C.O. in a second. I wouldn't call that stealing, i would call it YOUR LOSS! Just my .02 worth! are you implying that you would steal their coon dogs? how would you be any different than the tresspassers/....tony
hycohounds
most of the serious hunters i know run tracking collars on there hounds. i do too. and yes, i would go to your house and ask for my dog. have done it in the past. got the ticket to prove it. went on with my life and tried to keep up with them better.so far its been working..........tony
Guest boiler room
I guess a ticket would be cheaper than buying a new dog that was probably worth anything. most of the serious hunters i know run tracking collars on there hounds. i do too. and yes, i would go to your house and ask for my dog. have done it in the past. got the ticket to prove it. went on with my life and tried to keep up with them better.so far its been working..........tony
Guest bucksnort73
I know I'm a little late chiming in here, but I agree with letting the local C.O. or police know and give them pictures. However, I would also show the pictures to some locals. If these 2 guys are up to no good on your property, odds are they have done it to others as well. Let your neighbors know who to look out for. AdvantageTimberLou
If they trespassed take the pictures to the game warden or call the authorities. You got the proof, you got lucky they didn't steal the camera. If you caught them on film how long have they tresspassed before the days of the trail camera? Call the DNR and give them the names of the guys, those pictures will help a ton in at least getting your point across to stay off your land! Guest Stalker
Security System I had a small problem but I installed a temporary security system made by RUGER it is called the "Super BlackHawk .44 Magnum"...One night camping out and a blast or two no where close to the perpetrators was enough to make them wet their pants... You can't start shooting at them, angry as you would be, you'd be the one in trouble with the law. Call the authorities, let them be the guys to apply the law of Ruger!
