I had a guy build a stand on my property "ON A TREE I HAD A NO TRESS PASSING SIGN HUNG" the first year I talked to him the second year i called the cops and the DNR if he is there again this year i am goin to get really pissed and take possession of he gun, treestand, and any other hunting materials....in accordance with the rulling of the police officer and the DNR/C.O. that arrived last year.....i personally i hope he is up there cause he had one nice Benelli shot gun with a heck of a nice Leupold Scope and a pretty sweat Ladder stand.

Update on this incident!! I found out who the one guy was after I had called the CO, and placed a call to him about my situation. He is a well known coonhunter in this area, so I asked for his help in trying to find out who these guys were and for him to pass the word around that after deer season I would be more than glad to let them go coonhunting on my property. I told him that the CO has been contacted, and that along with the info the CO gives me and the bit of info he himself gives me , I was going to try and resolve things. WOW, it must have been when I mentioned the CO or sometime soon after that when he all of a sudden became VERY helpful!

My buddies said that I was mean to that poor sap:cool: But I think we now have an understanding!! As of today I have not gotten any pics on my cameras(4). So I hope he sees where I am coming from and that I am willing to let him go hunting AFTER deer season.:)

Do you have your property posted? I live in Western PA on a 133 acre farm that I try to manage for wildlife. A few years back, I simply came to the conclusion that is was absolutely necessary to post the entire farm with "Posted, No Hunting" Signs. The surrounding property owners are not really hunters, but allow other people to hunt their property. Whether intentional or not, I was having too many encounters with strangers on my land. I try to give a fellow hunter the benefit of the doubt and avoid confrontations in the woods, but enough was enough. Now, no one has an excuse for being on my property. Bight yellow 'Posted" signs, every 6 feet are prety hard to miss.

I agree with everyone else. Move the camera and call the authorities.

Make sure that the property is posted to : the exact " dimensions as per the law in your area. I *^%&*( defense Lawyer WILL go out and measure the distances between required signs to get their client off.

Also, if you have sole rights, with a contract, do NOT waste any time....the photo's are evidence and should be turned over for immediate prosecution.

We are all out here trying to be good stewards of the land. We work to obey the law, respect the private property of landowners and generally work to make ourselfs look good. But, when ya have bad seeds like that, I go straight for the law.

It sends a clear and instant message to everyone around. But most importantly, if you are paying for the rights, consider that stealing.

As far as loosing treestands. You can put little tracking chips in for recovery. Blows fools minds when ya show up with the law and they stand they say is there, is beeping at your unit.

Yeah i would agree that addressing them politely would be the best alternative because prosecuting someone for trespassing is not gonna help anything. warn them first and like another guy said then go to the authorities later if this does not work.
