Well, got home from the Holiday yesterday only to find that someone has stolen my two bag targets and the old treestand that I had hanging in my back yard.

I guess I could understand it if I would have left one of my block targets, or the Glenn Dell Full Rut out there, but these bags were just those burlap ones stuffed with old clothes. And the treestand that they stole is barely "huntable". I just hang it out back to get some practive. I wouldn't trust it in the woods. So, I am not really out any big money, but why the heck would someone steal something that had such little value. I had over $250 worth of wood piled up not more then 20 yards from that because I am rebuilding the kids playground, and that or some of the tolls laying around were not touched.

I guess I just don't understand people. So, it is bad of me to hope whoever took this stuff falls out of the tree stand this fall?

Because they can  That's how a thief thinks.

It was young teenager that stole your stand, not an adult. I bet you have a young neighbor, who knew you weren't home, who bow hunts. ;)

I agree with Buckee. Young kids steal for the thrill of doing it while older thieve's steal for value and usability. I had things stolen from my truck with the keys in it and they left the winning lottery tickets on the dash but stole the candy in a sours container right next to them. Not to mention the binoculars, 2 bottles of cologne and $50 worth of change and small bills in my ashtray. I'm just thankful they didn't steal the truck. Be thankful they didn't take more like breaking into your home and stealing your prized possesions.

Several fall seasons ago, I had my treestand locked around the tree. I hunted one evening and walked out to the truck in the dark. I returned the very next morning, walked into the woods before dawn, climbed my ladder and was met with NO TREESTAND!:eek: I couldn't believe it. Granted, I was on state land down the road at the time, but still, what drives people to do something like that? It was clear that it didn't belong to them, and they had to have had some mighty big cutters to get through that chain.

Even more frustrating to have things taken from your own land, like you did.

After that, my husband made me some old rickety ugly stand to use on state land. From that little homemade job, I took my first buck with the bow. :D

Well, I'd watch the paper for the report of when this guy falls out of the tree and gets hurt. You'll have your man! ;) In reality, no, it doesn't make any sense but it make you angry just the same.

sounds like a local job. it probably wont take long to see it pop up. of course it could be a anti hunting neighbor living close to you if there is one.

Shoot Strong

Thats what I was thinking too! Could be an anti! Either way that sucks! Hope you find the person! Hope you called the police! Never know, they could still be watching your home!

i hate to say it but your neighbors will steal from you sometimes. they other guy that hunts the property we hunt caught the neighbors sons friends stealing his treestand, they got their quad stuck in the fence. he told the farmer and he called the neighbor, he kicked them all off, even his son no longer hunts there.

just a thought. what if it was an ANTI hunter driving by and saw u had some hunting things in your yard. so he/she thought they would make a statement and steal your hunting things that u had there. just a thought. what do you think??

I really doubt it was an anti-hunter. The reason that I doubt this is that we have narrowed down the time this stuff was taken from between 11:30pm and 5:30 am. That means that someone climbed the old wobbly Ameristep ladder that I had on the tree and managed to get the stand off the tree withour falling. It's hard to describe, but based on the size of the pine tree that this was on and the way that I had rigged this thing up there, you really had to be famailar with tree stands to be able to do it.

I assume that if it was an anti, I woul dhave found them laying in the yard with a broken leg or worse in morning.
