waterfowler_gal
There is a section off of the Mississippi River where I go to feed the ducks and geese when I am not hunting.... There was a group of large old mallards (lots of curly-Q's on the rear-end) and one of them was completely green metallic... you know when the sun reflects off of him you see blue and purple too... I took a picture of him but I need to get it on a CD-Rom so I can post it... He was so cool looking but has anyone ever seen anything like it? RTF
Re: One Weird Duck I think it was just the direction of the sun hitting the plumage , but dont know in your instance. I have seen this before and when the duck turns while swimming the color changes. Anyhow, would love to see the pic when you get it.
Palssonater
Re: One Weird Duck That is the "perfect" mallard duck. No dusty plumage, not a feather out of place. This happens with tamer ducks around here. We find them in the Parks usually.

[/ QUOTE ] Your Duck, in question, might be a cross between a Mallard & Muscovy Duck.

[/ QUOTE ] True, but many excaped to the wild. Here where I live I see a lot of Hydred Ducks. Muscovy Ducks come in colors of deep Black/Green/white or all black and some are all white. They have fleshy growth around their bills and they don't "Quack" like regular ducks. They are also larger almost Goose sized.
