VermontHunter
NASCAR's premier series renamed Sprint Cup for '08 OH it's OK for NEXTEL to change it's name and logo ,, but it's NOT ok for Cingular to change it's name to AT&T ... Sure sounds like a total double standard to me... and guess who's behind yet another decision like this .. YEP,, ( NASCAR chairman and CEO Brian France ) Here's his logic behind the name change.. "The difference is that we have a contract that allows them to do it, and we permitted it. They [AT&T] seized on really a technicality, and we'll have to see if the court systems will see it our way as we go down the road." -- Brian France UHMM !! Mr. France what do you think Cingular has with NASCAR ?? I think it's called a contract, and AT&T bought that contract from Cingular ... Go figure UH .. This idiot is going to bring down NASCAR single handedly mark my words ... I can see a split happening similar to what happened in Formula 1 and IRL Racing ... Here's the whole story .. http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/headlines/cup/07/07/sprint.cup/index.html
Gator
I saw that the other day. CRAZY!!!! In a time where it is hard enough to get sponsorship, WHY would they just not go ahead and honor the contract that Cingular already had???? AdvantageTimberLou
Brian indeed will be the one that will bring NASCAR down. He is not what his dad and granddad were. You might even see him sell it off down the road!
