smo
I noticed Kentucky was having 4 days of youth season, and 2 of those days free and I was wondering where some decent public land was? I live in Southwest Virginia and was looking at going somewhere in the eastern end of Kent. I'm looking to camp or rent a cottage. Also is any of the public areas 4-wheeler accessible? Also wondering about the terrain, as I don't won't to go to a place that is steep like West Va. It would be nice to see some elk too. Thanks for any input. KyBucks
The Carr Creek Lake State Park in Knott county has some decent hunting........and I'm pretty sure the free youth weekend is Dec 29-30th. This would be a great time to drive the backroads looking for elk. It is pretty steep though, and I'm not sure about 4 wheeler trails.......I know that there isn't any in the areas I hunt. You might want to check out the Daniel Boone Natl Forest too. On another note, You may want to cheack and see how the free youth weekend applies to non resident hunters, I'm not sure how that works. Good luck!
