buckee
I guess then, that a person can't learn what Masonry is from the oral testimony of a Mason, can they? Since they are under oath in no way what-so-ever are to reveal the secrets of Masonry. Kind of leaves us in the lurch...eh;) If every Mason/Freemason is under oath to conceal and in no way what-so-ever reveal the secrets of the order, then how or why would anyone expect to get an honest answer from them ? This(secrets and secret oaths) Freemasons do not deny. So, if they are asked if the books in which Masonry has been published are true, they will either evade the question or else they will lie; because they are under oath to do so. Their oath is to the Lodge not to the one and only true God. As they are under oath to conceal the secrets of Masonry, and in no way what-so-ever to reveal any part of them, then, their testimony in regard to the truthfulness or untruthfulness of those books or oaths is of no value whatever, is it? It's kind of a crazy thought, to receive the testimony of men or a man, who admits they are under oath, not to tell you what you want to know. How, then, can anyone know what Masonry is? I guess the only answer would be found from the published and oral testimonies of those who have taken the degrees; and afterward, from conscientious or religious motives, have confessed their mistake, and have publicly renounced Masonry. Dawg
To who it was that commented about being Baptist and having a view somewhat negative towards freemasonry= Do you know of a George W Truett ? If not, he is a/was a Southern Baptist Leader and a Mason and this is his quote "The Masonic Fraternity is one of the most helpfully mediating and conserving organizations among men, and I have never wavered from that childhood impression, but it has stood steadfastly with me through the busy, vast hurrying years". I take NO man's word except God's. I don't know George W Truett, I'm not Southern Baptist. It matters little to me what he has said. How many times do I have to repeat myself "I have my own opinion." You may beleive I have formed that opinion because of ignorance and that's fine. That's your opinion. I'll end with this "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men." Acts 5:29 This will be my last post about this issue. I would urge the adminsitrators to remove it before it gets out of hand. I hold no grudge, hard feelings, or hatred to any one, no matter what their beliefs are. BR44 & popgun, you guys are fellow outdoorsmen and I intend on keeping it that way.
popgun
Before this thread gets locked up, I'd like to challenge some of you to do a little research. First let me say that If I were going to research PETA, ALF, HSUS, or ELF, I would go to "their websites" and see what they have to say, and match it against my own beliefs, and not those sites like this one. The same goes for researching anything else. If you wish to go to a Masonic website and judge for yourself, I say fine and dandy. See what they say and match it against your own beliefs. I certainly would not expect an Anti-Masonic website to say anything positive about the Freemasons. If you keep an open mind, and a Christian Spirit, you can find out the truth about any organization. Since we Masons have taken an oath to help out other Masons in their time of need, I don't see how it is so hard to see that the signs of recognition between one Mason and another need to be kept secret. Each to their own opinion. Each to their own beliefs, Each to their own rewards, and each to their own destiny. ....popgun
