AdvantageTimberLou
I am going to see if Scott will just call this room "Muggs" as he seems to know it all about all sports and the rest of us are just spectators that don't know a thing. I say if it gets you off the couch, gets the heart pumping its a sport!! And Andrea this is what we like to do on here, bash each other senseless but in the end still like each other. Its like that sport of boxing but without the upper cuts, Muggs couldn't handle it if the hits were real!
toddyboman
Man I go out to lunch and miss all kinds of fun.. In boxing your beating your fellow man into submission! Your taking your fists and pummeling another person until they can't go on. In racing your not out to take out your fellow drivers and inflict harm, your testing your car and driving ability against 42 others and seeing if your car is the best. Yes in boxing they beat the crap out of each other and in racing they do not. But in the end they see who is the best, by using strategy, having good reflexes, endurance, strength, good foot work and so on, so I kinda seem to think they are similar. Of course the obvious different in the fact NASCAR is about a machine and his team and boxing is the one person. But still I see lots of similarities. muggs
I think we should have Evander Holyfield and Dale Jr. box to see who is the better athlete.
VermontHunter
I think we should have Evander Holyfield and Dale Jr. box to see who is the better athlete. I have a better idea ... We'll take that beloved Evander and ask him to keep up with this guy on raceday ... Mike Houston Front Tire Carrier for the #24 Dupont Team 6'2”/280 lbs. Mike Houston used his size to his advantage in high school: "I've always been a big guy and always loved sports. While at Central Cabarrus High, he played defensive tackle and lettered all four years. He also was South Piedmont' all-conference. :p:D;) Forgot to mention,,, consistant 13 sec. full pitstops .. Tominator
OK, here's an analogy that might make my point. Take any pro athlete, any sport, stick him in a car with all the pit crews, all the mechanics, yadda yadda yadda (don't forget those monster workout facilities) and let's see what he can do against the other "athletes." Then we'll take say Gordon, Stewart, the Bush bros. and stick them on a gridiron, or strap some skates to them, or wing a 95mph heater at them and see how they do. I'd venture to say that the real athlete could adapt to racing better than the driver could to the real sport.

You would venture wrong again my friend...:D Most of these guy's are in top physical shape, and play other sports in the off season, as well most of these guy's were at the top of thier class playing sports during thier high school and college years,, heck some of them even run long distance marathons, and there's a couple that are fighter pilots as well... Try again Chris ... :D

VermontHunter
Prove me wrong. And just how would I do that ??? That would be like me telling you to prove me wrong... :p We don't have a pro football player, or a pro NHL player or even a NASCAR driver to do the experiment with ,,, heck we don't even have a car ... But that there is a big difference between being in shape and hitting a mlb fastball or curve ball. Or being able to go one on with (just for you muggs) Oden and hold their own and so on... Where as the pro baseball, basketball players could adapt to the racecar must easier.:)
