Sorry, I would have responded sooner, but I had to drive the minivan up to the store...it was very sporting and I'm a great athlete now.:)

btw- you dodged my questions.;)

Make light of it all you want muggs,, that's usually what happens when someone has just been trumped by a factual answer.... :p:D;)

And I didn't dodge anything,,, didn't you read my first sentence.. or did you develope selective reading ?? :D:D

Heaven forbid we hit the quarter back ..:D;)

We're OK ... right muggsy ?? ;)

Of course we're OK...if it wasn't for constant sports ribbing, I wouldn't come into this forum.:D btw- did you ask if I have developed selective reading?? Man....I invented it.;):):D

I am going to see if Scott will just call this room "Muggs" as he seems to know it all about all sports and the rest of us are just spectators that don't know a thing.

I say if it gets you off the couch, gets the heart pumping its a sport!!

And Andrea this is what we like to do on here, bash each other senseless but in the end still like each other. Its like that sport of boxing but without the upper cuts, Muggs couldn't handle it if the hits were real! :)

Man I go out to lunch and miss all kinds of fun..:D

In boxing your beating your fellow man into submission! Your taking your fists and pummeling another person until they can't go on. In racing your not out to take out your fellow drivers and inflict harm, your testing your car and driving ability against 42 others and seeing if your car is the best.

Yes in boxing they beat the crap out of each other and in racing they do not.

But in the end they see who is the best, by using strategy, having good reflexes, endurance, strength, good foot work and so on, so I kinda seem to think they are similar.

Of course the obvious different in the fact NASCAR is about a machine and his team and boxing is the one person. But still I see lots of similarities.:D

I think we should have Evander Holyfield and Dale Jr. box to see who is the better athlete.

I have a better idea ...:D

We'll take that beloved Evander and ask him to keep up with this guy on raceday ...

Mike Houston

Front Tire Carrier for the #24 Dupont Team

6'2”/280 lbs.

Mike Houston used his size to his advantage in high school: "I've always been a big guy and always loved sports.

While at Central Cabarrus High, he played defensive tackle and lettered all four years. He also was South Piedmont' all-conference.

:p:p:D;)

Forgot to mention,,, consistant 13 sec. full pitstops ..

Wikipedia is hardly a reliable source.

OK, here's an analogy that might make my point.

Take any pro athlete, any sport, stick him in a car with all the pit crews, all the mechanics, yadda yadda yadda (don't forget those monster workout facilities) and let's see what he can do against the other "athletes." Then we'll take say Gordon, Stewart, the Bush bros. and stick them on a gridiron, or strap some skates to them, or wing a 95mph heater at them and see how they do.

I'd venture to say that the real athlete could adapt to racing better than the driver could to the real sport.

Most of these guy's are in top physical shape, and play other sports in the off season, as well most of these guy's were at the top of thier class playing sports during thier high school and college years,, heck some of them even run long distance marathons, and there's a couple that are fighter pilots as well...:rolleyes:;)

Try again Chris ... :D:D

I dont think that Chris is saying they are not in shape or can't play other sports.

But that there is a big difference between being in shape and hitting a mlb fastball or curve ball. Or being able to go one on with (just for you muggs) Oden and hold their own and so on...

Where as the pro baseball, basketball players could adapt to the racecar must easier.:):)

So what you're saying is that an accomplished college football player that in now in NASCAR couldn't adapt to playing pro football ...:confused: Or the accomplished college baseball player couldn't adapt to playing in the MLB because he chose to be in NASCAR instead .. and so on ?? ..:confused:

Exactly. Anyone can drive. Given enough time, I could drive one of those things. I, however, could never be a pro baseball, basketball, football, hockey, player.

You guy's are skipping the fact that most of these guy's in NASCAR are acomplished college athelet's.. they just choose to be in NASCAR,, or maybe just didn't make the grade in a draft somewhere.... BUT make NO mistake these guy's a top notch athlete's...;)

And regardless of what we think... the sports writters call racing a sport...:D;)

You mean every driver was an accomplished college football or baseball player? I am sure some might be able to do it but not many.

How many drivers actually fit where accomplished college players?:)

So that means they were not good enough to be drafted to play....So they opted to NASCAR.:)

What do those guys know?:p:D
