We caught a spotlighter tonight!!!!! haha we heard the gunshot down by the meadow by the road, ran out of the house, saw the taillights going down the road, dad got in the truck and went up the road to block the road, me and my buddy went in the field and hid in the brush, they came back, drove in the field got out, we ran out of the brush and they tried to deny it, we made them take the deer, got their liscens number, names, phone numbers....turns out they have been caught before down there spotlighting so the DNR knows who these idiots are. Score one for the ethicle hunters, it was a button buck that they shot....how sad, and there is a legal season going on right now for antlerless deer (during daylight hours!)

Re: Caught a Spotlighter

Thank You

As the others have said though...be really careful when confronting those kind of armed idiots...remember they are already that stupid.

I and my entire family can be especially greatful for you protecting what my family has been enjoying since the early 80's.

What I'm talking about is the fine hunting thats found in West Virginia...Harrison county and Barbour county to be exact. I hunted with my father during Thanksgiving week and we choose to take our deer the legal way...during daylight cool.gif

Re: Caught a Spotlighter

In west virginia it is manditory ten days in jail for use of artificial light to take deer, loss of hunting rights for 2 years, and a fine to replace the animal. they screw you pretty good. By the way (foreveryone) i had my glock 23 40 caliber in my back pocket, got to use my new tactical light i got for christmas on him, haha

Re: Caught a Spotlighter

Yeah in Indiana we can spotlight but I only spotlight my friends place with permission first and my land and thats all. But if they did that at my place I'd be firing off some rounds at them. Just scare them a little. hahahahahaha

Way to go tho. Great choice. I'm sure the deer are very happy you decided to do that.

Re: Caught a Spotlighter

While I am happy that you were successful in getting these guys, I have to point out just how dangerous this kind of thing can be. You are messing with armed criminals and thankfully they were not professional poachers, or it might have turned out a lot different. Taking on poachers is a dangerous enough job for conservation officers that are trained in the safest way to do this, and still occasionally the officers wind up on the losing side of such a confrontation.

Re: Caught a Spotlighter

And one more thing about our little adventure, Three out of the four of us involved have either military background, or police, one both. So we pretty much know how to handle ourselvs and our weapons, I knew all the risks involved before we got there, plus my friends mom had already called the police/DNR. We had our bases covered, we hit those guys all at once with overwhealming force and speed as soon as they were out of the truck, we seen they had no weapons in hand, so my friend and i moved in, and we both knew that dad was within sight, and the other guy(whom i didn;t mention before) was to the other direction armed blocking the only exit. We had our bases covered. But i know where yall's concerns are comming from. I appriciate all the support you guys and gals?? gave me. Happy new year!!! i am stayin home, too many drunks on the roads!
