James7xChamp3
I have one in 12 ga. Was just wondering if anyone else out there owns one and what loads and chokes you use. I'd like to start experimenting to see what shoots best. Thanks for any info.
kooter
Re: TC Encore Turkey Gun i just got one for christmas, not sure what to shoot out of it yet, i did see that winchester had a hevi shot type shell out this year. i will probably give those a try. i haven't seen any different chokes for the tc yet, so i will just use the one that came with it. James7xChamp3
Re: TC Encore Turkey Gun I love mine also! I actually got mine in April of 2003 just before our season started and bought some of those Winchester Supremes in #4 and #5. I ended up using the #5's and I took a real nice Tom that May. Didn't draw a permit last year so I'm really hoping to draw one this year. I'd like to try some different loads just for comparison and to see what really shoots best. You're right about the recoil. She packs a good punch when patterning, but in the field it's not noticed. I'm real happy with the gun. When I bought my gun, nobody had one locally. I live only about 5 miles from the Thompson factory and also know a few people that work there and nobody could get one for me. Since it was only a couple weeks before the season, I had pretty much given up on owning one for that season. I placed an order with the Kittery Trading Post and they told me it would be about 3 months. Well, my girlfriend secretly went back over to Fox Ridge Outfitters (TC's Outlet store) and with the help of one of the employees they found one in Oklahoma-Ed's Contenders I believe. She ordered it and surprised me with it a week before the opener! What a peach! I owe bagging that Tom to her. That was a special bird! sorry for the long post...lol
