VermontHunter
It seems since I have quit smoking (over a year ago) every room I walk into where someone has smoked ,, my GAG reflex wants to kick in ... I have a couple smokers at work that light up in the receiving room where I unload tractor trailers, even with the large overheads up, I get this urge to GAG .. :( Being an EX - smoker I try to be sympathetic to their habit ... It's hard being a smoker, the addiction is a bad one..:( Is there anything that I can do to get rid of this gagging sensation, that seems to be happening lately ... ??? ... ANYONE ?? .. Bachflock
Congrats on quitting, Luke. It took my mom a week in the hospital because she couldn't breath to quit. Ever try Altoids or other strong mints? Once you start smelling the smoke pop in a couple and see if they are strong enough to overpower the cigarette smell and reduce that urge. OJR
I quit in '91 and now whenever I walk into a room where they are smoking I start to cough and almost gag! I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke at all, even on people's clothes! Suck it up and block it out with that mind of yours! On second thought, that might be a problem! LOL!!! Turkeygirl
I'm kinda the same way,,,though I never smoked, just smelling it makes me cough and want to gag....sure does smell horrible!
stevebeilgard
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, luke. but, it will only get worse. i quit a 3 pack a day habit 40 years ago. if a motel room was smoked in 3 weeks ago, i can't sleep in it. i can tell a smoking restaurant 10 feet before i open the door. fact is, your sences are sharpening and may never pique

I work with a guy that chews altoids like their tootsie rolls.........but he smokes too......I used to smoke as well and like the rest of ya'll, can't stand the smell. Not sure how to get rid of the gag reflex, not sure if it's even possible.
wtnhunt
Never been a smoker, but it chokes me up being around the smoke and gives me a bad headache. Maybe the mints might be worth a try Luke.
