New Longbow

I went to 3-Rivers a few weeks ago and got a new longbow. I went up there to shoot a couple of Woodland Hunters they had (Tomahawk Bows). I got there, shot one, really liked it, went to but it, then the guy told me he sold them both last night on the internet!! I was kinda ticked since I had called them twice, the last time the day before making the 2 1/2 hour drive to tell them that I was coming up the next morning to specifically shoot THAT bow. But they tried hard to fit me with something else. The guy came out with a Great Plains bow..the same maker that makes the Tomahawk Bows. It's a "bamboo" 66 inch reflex/deflex, with antler tip overlays. I was still ticked, but I got over it real quicklike after shooting that bow. I was amazed how quiet it was and no handshock. I shot cadar arrows, Beman Classics, and Carbon Express. I went with the Beman Classics. They fly great! I finally have the right longbow that I can feel confident going to the woods with this fall. Oh yeah....It's GONNA happen!! I'm going to have to get my Ross compound down and wipe the dust off of it!!. All October from now on is PRIMITIVE season for this fella....If any of you guys want a real challenge. take up traditional archery. It makes shooting a compound soooo easy after really developing your muscle groups, focus, and general understanding of arrow flight. If anything it is a great training tool. I'm HOOKED!! Oh yeah, I got Dale Karck to sign it too. If you haven't heard of him, someday I think you will. He's Tred Barta without all of the attitude....

Congrats on the new bow. I haven't show a long bow since I was a kid and am only know getting back into archery. The kids and I are headed to my brother's house in a couple of days and are planning on shooting. He has a couple of long bows and I'm already looking forward to trying them out.

Congrat's on the new stick!.I had 2 Great Plains bows-a 3pc "Plainsman" longbow and a 1pc "Wolf Creek" recurve.I shot my first big game animal with the recurve and I wish I still had the longbow--that bow was a great shooter.Sounds like your's is nice--man law says we need pic's!:D

btw,Dale runs a top-notch trad archery supply shop and is one of the greatest guys to deal with. He'll bend over backwards to make a customer happy--it looks like he made your day. Also,it's nice seeing somebody else post "new longbow".It's usually just me posting new longbow or recurve lol--have fun with it(I know you will)

And Jim, you are not the only one. You have recieved yours already. I still have 11 more weeks.

That's right--I forgot you had one on order:)-a Bear's Paw I think it was(nice bows, btw).I have a Northern Mist Baraga longbow being made.I ordered it in mid-May.It should be done by September-just in time for hunting season.

Are you going to the Denton Hill shoot in Potter Co.,Pa at the end of the month?

I will not be making it out this year. I am going to try to keep that weekend free for next year. Hopefully it works out.
