Guest remingtonman
I consider myself a deer hunter. Not a weekend warrior or a member of SWAT. I love all hunting. I like the Spring Toms in the south. But I like heavy duty equipment that allows me to harvest deer year after year. I get so frustrated when I buy a new camo pattern and then wash the clothes in cold water with woolite dark and it still fades. The scent killer soaps that that do not contain UV brighteners fade the clothing after 1 wash. I know that the drier heat damages them as well, so I dry on low or line dry. I have tried expensive name brand and still have less than desireable results. Cotton is comfortable but fades. What do you guys Deer Hunt with and wash to be scent free that will not fade? wtnhunt
The scent killer soaps that that do not contain UV brighteners fade the clothing after 1 wash. Use sporstwash or a comparable product here with the clothes turned inside out. Works well for me. Have some shirts that are pretty old that really are not badly faded at all. plannerman
Don't remember where, but saw something a few years ago that recommended a lot of SALT in the first wash for new clothing. Supposedly the salt "sets" the dye and prevent the fade. Tried it and seems to work, but also wash inside-out, air dry, etc.... Go figure. Maryland_Bowhunter
I bought some gamehide pants last season and they have not started to fade . I washed them twice a week and more then that sometimes . I wore them from sept 1 till jan 31 last season
Guest titleist_03
Turning them inside out works great for keeping them from fading.
Guest masshunt2144
I was told that washing with a cup of vinegar only for the first wash will set the dye (like the salt that was mentioned in the other post). I've found that the camo clothes I've gotten from Columbia Sportswear have stayed crisp for a really long time.
RangerClay
Did you buy them at Bass Pro Shops? I have heard others complain about their clothing fading fast. Try washing them inside out! I really does help.
maddhunter
Scent-A-Way with Camo Guard and wash them inside out. Works for me. I've had the same pair of overalls for about 5 years now, been through about 5 gallon of soap and the green in them is still green. The only fadeing I think is mainly from wear.
