VABuckSlayer
Dale Jr. will not be driving a red Budweiser Chevy after this year. He will apparently be driving a blue Pepsi Chevy. Here's the article from NASCAR.com Eric http://www.nascar.com/2007/news/headlines/cup/07/13/dearnhardtjr.budweiser/index.html

AdvantageTimberLou
Muggs is that how you think us NASCAR fans talk? LOL!! I know it hurts your feelings. Its like saying the Browns helmets this year will be Yellow and instead of the Dog Pound fans they will convert over to cats seeing your head of the fan club!! As for Jr. Gotta go do what Hendrick wants and I am sure Pepsi is paying dearly to sponsor Jr. and they probably had this in the works with Rick before the move. If Rick could get Jr. Pepsi would give even more money. NASCAR is all about money, plain and simple. Teams with the most do the most winning and to do that you need high profile drivers. Will be interesting, now to see if he can get the #8 for next year? Wonder who will pick up Budwieser too? They will be somewhat selective as image is everything for them. I need a personally who the fans can relate too.

AdvantageTimberLou
Article said Bud may end up sponsoring Kasey Kahne's ride. Not sure Bud will have the same impact Kevin going with Kasey. Jr. was a marketing dream for them. Mainly that last name was what helped a ton. I know Everham has been saying he needs more money to make his teams more competitive, maybe this will help!! MCH
Losing Jr. will definitely hurt their advertising. But right now, they need to concentrate on what driver will give them the best shot at being in the winner's circle. I'm pretty sure that current sponsors and current contracts have a little bit to do with who they offer sponsorship to. Maybe Kasey is the best on their short list of possible options. AdvantageTimberLou
Dale Jr. getting Bud in the first place was his dad's doing. That was a 5 year 50 million dollar deal back then. Dale Sr. made that deal work out and no one knew at that point the impact or following Jr. would have. With Dale Sr's passing he inherited all those fans that love to see an Earnhardt behind the wheel. Hard to say what will happen but with sponsors I see the contracts being more driven towards performance, you win more and make the chase, you get more money. If you fail to make races (Mikey Waltrip take note) they will get money given back to them. Tough business. I know what we ask for sponsors on our car and its tough to attract sponsors. hutchies
I'm figuring Kasey maybe the best on the short list and they probably didn't want to shell out the big dough for Jr. I'm sure that it would have cost them more. I am really surprised that they didn't want to put the biggest name nascar with their product still.

Yeah with Kasey having All-State Insurance as a sponsor and now possibly Budweiser, there is a clash if you ever seen one. Love his All-State commercials and those crazy women, wonder what Bud will do with his image? Good move would have Denny Hamlin, that kid is going to win a championship fairly soon! Kid is all around nice guy and can win!!

VermontHunter
I truly have to admit when I heard this announcement I went ... I would have bet money the bud logo would have been Jr.'s major sponsor ...
BowJoe
From what I got out of the article, Hendrick is the one that said no way on the deal since it would clash with the Pepsi contract HMS currently has. It's a matter of berverage companies. I know one's alcohol but I think they still have rules about endorsements.
texastrophies
I don't drink Bud, and I won't drink Pepsi. I am a fan because of the driver, not the decals on the car.

CTBowMan
How about Dr. Pepper? Dr. Pepper would be good, it's a PepsiCo product. I'm a pepper he's a pepper, she's a pepper, wouldn't you like to be a pepper too? lol.

It would be sweet to see a rootbeer car, he could have that picture of that dog on the hood that is on the can lol. But I really think it will be one of the Mountain Dew drinks. Steven
Sorry CTBowMan, Dr. Pepper is a Coke product. Not so fast... Dr. Pepper is not a Pepsi Product. The Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Corporation is a division of London-based Cadbury-Schweppes. Though Dr. Pepper is distributed by Pepsi distributors in many parts of the U.S., the Pepsi Cola Company has nothing to do with the bottling of Dr. Pepper or the design of its packaging. Mr. Pibb is a Coca-Cola product.
deerslayer06
Bud didnt resign Junior because he is out of their marketing range. Budweiser claims they target an audience of 21-29 and now Dale Junior is 33...too old for the gig sorry Jr. Anyway you can be looking for a newsconference soon varifying that Mountain Dew will be Dale Earnhardt's primary sponser for next season and he will not be in the #8...Kasey Kahne will do good things for Bud and Junior will be a hit for Mountain Dew...everybody wins...I found all this info off of jayski. GO 17!

GO 17! There is your mistake. Jayski is always right, eventually. A lot of times it takes 4 or 5 updates before they are on the right track. Just look how things got out of hand when Junior was going to announce he was leaving DEI. Before you could even blink, he and Truex Jr were going to be driving for JR Motorsports with Hendrick help. AdvantageTimberLou
Yeah you have to watch Jayski, not sure where they get their information, probably from crew members hanging out at the local pub making up stories. I know a guy that works for Rusty Wallace that said he heard from some RCR guys that Jr. was going to drive for them before the big announcement of him going to Hendrick. We all know how that turned out. Rumors! Jr. was and still is a marketing dream for Bud, don't let Bud fool you into thinking Kasey will be the next star. How is All-State Insurance going to like Kasey having Bud as a sponsor? Odd pair there!
