Gator
Talked my mom into an early Christmas present:D 1 Doz Easton Fatboy 500's!!!! Got black nocks, and with 65gr tips and insert weight, I am looking at an arrow weight of 330 and FOC of 10.08% roughly. Gonna have 2 black and 1 yellow tiger stripe blazer vanes. Can't wait to get them built!!!!
hutchies
Sounds awesome. I hear the FB's shoot really well.
Gator
Well, I got them cut and almost all fletched. Decided against the yellow tiger stripe and went with white tiger stripe, babies look GOOD!!!!!!! Total arrow weight is 335grs, just over the 5gpi minimum! hutchies
Have you Chronoed it yet?
Gator
No, I didn't get them fletched until last night after I got home. Won't be able to chrono till Sun. I expect in the 275 range, that is what I am getting with my 5575 XT's, and they are 334 But here is something weird, I had some Ultralight X Cutters, and they were FASTER than my XT's, yet the same weight........... I closed my pin gap up tremendously with those.
hutchies
I might be wrong here but I believe the X cutters are alot stiffer spine and transfer more energy instead of flexing so much. Tony can probably tell us for sure. Oh Tony where are you?

I know the x cutters are STIFF, that is why I went with the Eastons, on a recommendation from my new boss:D
Bachflock
Gator - I've got to admit I haven't the slightest what the number represent (except the grains) but they sound like goodin's. Congrats!
hutchies
500's after means the spine of the arrow.. Spine is nothing more than how stiff they are.
maddhunter
When I was shooting the fat shafts I was 3grns over the min. and was only shooting 300fps. Now whith a GT at the same weight I shot right at 320fps. I think the fat shaft produces a lot more wind resistance than one might think. Heck my 450 grain Blackhawk Vapor 5000s shoot 285fps. That's my hunting setup !!!!!!!!!!
hutchies
Dang dwin what is your Drawlength? I think Gator is probably like mine.....close to a 28". We loose 20 fps off the ibo just for the short arms.........

Gator
Finally chronoe'd it yesterday, shot 278 at 66lbs. My Xt's shoot 274. Shot a few shots, but was hot and tired, and didn't have my release, had to borrow one. These shoot a little high, so looks like I will have to readjust my sights a little bit

Gator
I can go as fast as 288, but I'll never reach that, I can't pull enough weight to get there
hutchies
Yeah, and short arms like mine don't help. I haven't chronoed mine but by the calculator I should be right at 280. Soon as my new string comes in and I get a chance to get it put on and somewhere they have a chrono I'll find out.

Tony can probably tell us for sure. Oh Tony where are you? man you 2 dont need me. you guys have come a loooong way in just a year or so of shooting 3d and stuff. yes a slightly stiffer spine will make your arrows shoot a little faster. i shoot a 22 series Goldtip which is stiff as heck and i only shoot them at 320 grs and 63 lbs. FOC is 10 and speed is 306 fps at a 30 inch draw. the new age thinking is to cut carbons within 1/4 inch of the rest and shoot them like that. they dont flex as much like the aluminums did and some feel they shoot out of the bow almost like a dart. shoot em up guys.
