Guest Ironhorse
A buddy of mine is looking at new MLs. I have a CVA Magbolt that I picked up as deer hunting insurance and don't know a ton about MLs. The Encores seem really nice, but not sure how important the speed breech and swing hammer features are compared to the models that don't have them. Also looked at Omegas, some CVAs and Knights. Any suggestions on make and model?

quackmaster4
I haven't tried many inlines. I did have a CVA Staghorn, killed two deer in two years, then sold it to a buddy and bought an Omega. Great rifle. I tend to stick with T/C guns, but that's just me.
Jeramie
There are a lot of factors that determine what type of ML'ers to get. If you're like me you dont shoot them near as often as you do a regular Rifle. I shoot about 2-boxes of Sabots out of mine every year. Thats it. I start plinking a month or so before season, hunt with it, shoot it a bit more after a week long season, and then put it back in the Closet (after a good cleaning of course). In my case, spending a lot of money on a ML'er or buying one hard to clean is just a waste of time and money. I can easily do everything I need with an Optima. Ill be looking at a stainless Optima next month. Somehow I alway manage to sale my Ml'ers. Ive had countless and typically have someone buy at least one a year off of me. This year Im looking for one to keep. For someone like me the cheaper Optima is plenty of Rifle. I have no problems killing deer at 100yds. They are plenty accurate and very easy to clean. However, If you're looking for something to plink and fine tune to the greatest degree, there are a LOT better choices out there. If not and you're looking for a hunting Rifle the optima is plenty IMHO.

too_pointer
The Encores ( new and older ) are great, I have one, but also have extra barrels for it. If your friend doesn't ever plan on extra barrels, have him check out the TC Omega's. They are pretty darn popular and are a very good gun for the $$. I am also a TC fan. too_
