BearClaw
Any flyfishers out there? I use the Cortland Braided Loop Leaders and I can't get the ends that are on the line to stop fraying. The directions say to use temperatures above 220 degrees but what do you use? I use a hairdryer on hi but I can't seem to secure the braided ends well enough. They come undone and then the leader gets caught up in it. Any suggestions?
Guest Wackmaster17
I have a buddy that uses those loop leaders and all he does is use a lighter to keep the end from fraying and it works pretty good.
BR44
I ran into the same thing, I just got the line threaded in and worked it into position and once there, took a pair of small fly-tying scissors and trimmed the frays away, then slide the shrink tube into place. Where do ya do your flyin'? Not to many places around where I live, but there are north of me that I go to (N IND & SW MICH ). Heading to Gunnison,CO Tuesday to pick up my elk mount and goin' to do some while I'm out there. CAN'T WAIT !
BearClaw
I do my flyfishing mostly at the Savage River in Western Maryland. It is the tailwater from the Savage River Reservoir and is a trophy management area. Lots of browns and brooks and a few rainbows that get out when they release water form the dam. Constant flow year round and naturally reproducing brooks and browns. Great water-pockets, pools, runs-all great fishing and lots of fish!
