wtnhunt
Every Saturday here our tornado warning siren goes off at noon. I am usually outside when it goes off, have heard yotes sound off in the past when it has gone off. Usually when I have heard them they have been a good ways off and occasionally they have been fairly close, today they were in the woods about 150-175 yards off to the east of my house. Sounded like some young ones, but not really sure. The dog I called in this morning was about 35-40lbs and he came in on a pup distress for about a minute then he showed up about 125-20 seconds into my second sequence with pup distress and yellowhammer. My question is, with the yotes in the woods up here close by, would I have pretty good likelihood of seeing more, sitting in the same spot calling with the same type sequences again this evening and then again tomorrow morning? Maybe try just the pup distress?
jcwa
If your going to try the same area, change calls. Give them something else. Even if I hunt the same area a week later, I always change sounds.
wtnhunt
Thanks, too bad I did not see this before I went out. Had no luck this evening. Will try some different calls in the morning.
Guest Evan
its not so where you are but where the yotes are...they tend to follow an exact route, one they know is safe just set up on that and make sure the wind is right...if they catch on to you in one spot forget it its done. but i think jcwa is right in saying that you should switch it up alot keep them curious.
