New toy...dangerous one.

Heh, thanks Jeramie! I don't plan on taking chances, as I really do not have any desire to come on the receiving end of road rash or sudden impacts. Right now I'm more scared of it than I was riding it home. LOL I just hope that I never lose my caution and do anything stupid with it. I have 3 "li'l sisters" and a bunch of friends that would be devastated if I got hurt/killed on it. So, yeah, I guess pray that I'll keep my head on straight and be safe all the time.

As a guy who has owned a few fast ones, just be safe and cautious of others....as cars do not see you.....I wouldn't care if it was hot pink with a flashing lights, they wont see you.....be careful buddy, and always assume the car does not see you........your bike is quiet and fast, and people in large cars and trucks wont see you....Im praying you have many, many safe years with it, just be careful....al

Great looking bike, congrats.

On a related note, do you have a will and a living will and have you signed a donor statement? If not, you need to do so. Not necessarily because you have the bike, but because you are of age that you need these things....the bike just increases the odds you may need them.

Best of luck.

EEEEK!!! I just called an insurance agent for a quote, and he quoted me $391 for a year. Ouch. I'm 18, single, and don't have any other vehicles insured with them.

Be Careful Grant...

Remember, I told you that the sport bikes would be expensive to insure.

If you are not careful, the insurance will quickly eat the difference in what you planned to save on gas.

Call 1-800-236-BIKE

or: www.bike-line.com/freequote

Markel has the best rates around, especially if you get liability only.

It is a nice bike, and I appreciate seeing the "before" photos.

I don't want to see any "after" photos, if you get my drift.

It won't hurt to say a prayer before starting the motor every time you are ready to ride.

Eh... Bikeline says $515/year. YIKES! Thanks for the link though!

This is kinda different than what Marlin was paying for Liability...$60/year with state farm. He's 25, married, and has 2 other vehicles insured with them. They won't insure a bike without another vehicle, and I don't have another vehicle.

Don't go with just liability......

IMHO, sell the bike and buy a cheap car. You will likely cause your family a lot less heartache.

As the motorcycle police say, it isn't if you are going to wreck it is just a matter of when.

Did you also buy some very good leathers?

Don't go with just liability......a wreck could leave you with hundreds of thousands of medical bills. Also, don't get the minimum coverage you can (amount required depends on your State). You could cause a wreck where several cars are damaged and end up being personally sued for the bills your insurance didn't pay because you have bare bones coverage.

Did you also buy some very good leathers for riding? Ever seen what happens when someone comes off a motorcycle at even low speeds wearing jeans and a t-shirt?
