buckbuster11
The thing that puts Martin near the top is the fact he can steal bases and no other catcher can steal a single base (except Mauer) let alone the 15 or so he has. But, I'd still take V-Mart and the season he is having and Mauer over Martin.
MCH
I can see your logic with Vmart, for this season only. But as for Mauer, I don't understand your logic? At the first of the year, I would've chosen Mauer ahead of Martin, but now there's no way.

buckbuster11
I guess you are right about Martin over Mauer. I was kind of thinking about before the season drafting when I said that. But Mauer is pretty friggin good though, you'd think next year he would bounce back.
muggs
As a keeper, Martin is tough to beat, but there isn't any catcher with VMart's offensive capabilities. But for my money, a catcher that's on pace for 30 steals is a very, very rare player. btw- Kev, John...I clearly remember you both saying I drafted him too high. You know what, I should be used to the two of you backpeddling by now...but for some reason, I always get a kick out of it.

I had him as my 10th round pick and most "experts" had him going later than that. You made a good pick, though. But I was pretty sure Posada and Johjima would go ahead of Martin. muggs
I don't care what was supposed to happen, you just admitted I have the #1 catcher for next year, and I have him for the following year as well. It's not "too high" it's just "ahead of the curve."

It's not "too high" it's just "ahead of the curve." I WOULD agree that it was "ahead of the curve"....but that would be admitting that you knew what you were doing at the time.....and that would be stretching the truth...which I try not to do too often. I'm pretty sure you needed a catcher and you knew I was probably targeting him so you thought to yourself: "I could care less whether he hits 1HR and bats .100! As long as I steal him from Kevin, I'm happy.":D:D

I thought about waiting until the 10th round or so, but didn't want to risk losing him to you....so, made sense with my first keeper. MCH
Boy is it getting DEEP in here. You ain't lying. because he was young, I knew his numbers would increase. That works for Florida and Tampa Bay. Oh, but that's just because they can't afford the "established" players.
muggs
In limited time and as a rookie, he had a high average, 10+ jacks and 10 steals. Not to mention, he has been a top 50 prospect (more like top 20) for a few years prior to last year.

MCH
sorry about getting back on topic We'll let it slide this time, buddy-boy. But next time, we'll have Eric call you and talk to you about Greg Oden's potential hall of fame career for 2 hours. Which will be followed up by a 30 minute seminar by John on the art of quarterbacking a superbowl team. Which will then be followed by a 4 hour energetic speech given by yours truly on the Dodgers extensive farm system. Do you really want that???? Randyman
The NL is worse then the NFC in football. They should give the World Series trophy to whoever wins the AL championship and call it a season. That would work out great actually. Then we wouldn't have to watch another boring, lame, claw your eyes out World Series, and the baseball season would actually end before Christmas this season. I agree 100%, but i keep thinking back to last year................when the 83 win Cardinals out and out stole a World Series and stunned and delighted this life long Redbird Fan! While the Cardinals are D.O.A. this year, maybe lightning will strike again for another NL team.
