Vang Vs. the State of Wisconsin: Any Comments?

My heart and my deepest sympathy continues to go strong out to all the deer hunters and their loved ones that were killed in Hayward, Wisconsin early this fall. http://www.courttv.com/news/2004/1229/hunter_ap.html

How do we teach others about our hunting ethics as well as how to proper conserve and respect the land and animals? It is a true tragedy...

Any connections that are drawn between this case and the sport of hunting are totally coincidental. The guy was obviously a looney and a murderer and he would have done the same thing sooner or later, regardless of location and circumstances. The fact that he happened to be sitting in the woods during deer season when he did it has nothing to do with his actions.

What kills me is a defense lawyer is willing to take this case... how do those guys sleep at night? I can't believe that Vang pled not guilty, more over, I can't believe they are reserving the right to use the defense of "mental insanity/illness"... give me a break... Over the past 10 or 15 years, I have really begun to kringe at our justice system...

Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families

I havent heard too much on this case since it happen and that really makes me mad. Yeah we have a lot of stuff in the news these days but still.

I'm really upset our sport of hunting took a shot like this. I know the sport will never forget this and I hope we don't. I hate to think now that I might have to watch my back while hunting. I rather have the deer watching their backs. and not me. Am I scarred now that someone might shoot me. Nah I'm not. Ireally dont wanna think about that while out in the woods.

I pray for the families that lost love ones. Southern Indiana sends a prayer

i hate the way they start that artical "A man accused of shooting six FELLOW DEER HUNTERS to death and wounding two others after being caught trespassing in the woods pleaded not guilty today."

HOW CAN THEY EVEN THINK OF REFURING TO HIM AS A DEER HUNTER HE IS NOT A HUNTER AND IT DISCUSTS ME THAT THEY REFURED TO HIM AS A HUNTER BECAUSE HE ISN'T A HUNTER IN ANY WAY

Unfortunately, I really don't see any "justice" coming from this case... the fact remains, six hunters are dead... three injured... and families without their loved ones, and an immigrant who apparently is refusing to 1) accept responsibility for his actions and 2) show any remorse for his actions.

He has made no attempt to show any remorse or regret... It's just really sad.

This is a perfect example of why people need to stand up and make changes in there goverments/ leaders. Everyone here has resigned themselves to jailhouse/vigilanty justice, simply because Wis. dosnt have capitol puishment....seems like this would be a good case to take to the statehouse an make sum rumblings for change. I agree that the idiot deserves what he gets.....but once again ya got to go with what the justice system gives ya.

I am a law student and we have been following this case as well as other high-profile ones.. but this one hit's hard in to my heart because of my love for hunting and the outdoors... We represent the hunters and conservationist.... as well as the people of our country. No matter where or how you are brought up as an individual if you live in our country you will respect our laws and our land and our people. There is no excuse for what happened... I saw a bumper sticker in the Twin Cities area that said "Save a deer, shoot a hmong." Someone is making money off that marketing idea. I have been working on being open-minded and not judge all those who cross my path. However like I stated before I feel sick to my stomach when I think about what happened in the woods that day in Wisconsin....

Hmmm.... don't know if I agree... our JS is screwed up... and WI being the democratic state that it is, isn't about to change their legislation... This guy will get what he deserves, but I don't believe "justice" will have been served by our judicial system.. JMHO frown.gif

THATS MY POINT.......it is a democratic state but this is a pretty heart wrenching story, the kind of thing that could be used to change minds and change systems.........the only thing you can do is try. Im not saying use it as a marketing tool or anything else. But i think capitol punishment should be used in more cases. To be honest billygoat i dont see anykind ofjustice being fit for the type of attrocity he commited. There is nothing any state or person could do that would make the families of the fallen.

know that i go back and read it...i feel pretty much the way you do about it in an erlier post.
