Guest Deltarook
Have shot several different drop away rest over the years and have yet to find one that is quiet. There are alot of new rest out there that I have no experience with and need some opinions. Have already ruled out the Throphy Taker and the Drop Zone. Both seem to be quality rests but I am not satisfied with the noise that both make. Need some ideas!!
123 4/8 P&Y
Cobra Try the cobra rest. You can adjust the fork so it does not slam down on the shelf. I just installed mine yesterday and I already have it shooting fairly quiet.
Tony
are you talking about the sound of drawing an arrow on the TT or the noise it makes when its returns to the riser shelf. both are super easy to fix. i put a thick pad on the riser shelf. its made of felt and is aobut 1/8 inch thick and does not effect the rest at all. for the prongs you can use heat shrink on them to help quiet them or moleskin. just make sure you put it on and then sight in your broadheads. i have been shooting TTs for 6 years and i love them. Leo
The Muzzy Zero Effect is the quietest rest I've ever shot.
dlriggins
I use a ripcord and had a problem with it hitting the riser as it fell just put a couple of layers of moleskin on the riser and that hushed it up quiet enough to get a second shot on my doe two years ago
Guest Deltarook
Anyone have any experience with the Vital Bow Gear rests. Have heard they are super quiet but didnt want to spend the money without some feedback.
AdvantageTimberLou
Anyone have any experience with the Vital Bow Gear rests. Have heard they are super quiet but didnt want to spend the money without some feedback. I have the VBG Kazaway. Its very quiet and I love how it cradles that arrow and keeps it contained until your ready to shoot. Simple to set up too! Get one and you will be very happy! Can sometimes find them over at www.archerytalk.com in the classifieds at great prices. Just a matter of getting lucky and and the right day! Guest doublelung
Hey Tony is right I use the trophy taker and I also have a piece of felt over the rest it is sound proof you are making a mistake if you go any other way. Three full years of shooting still works great and not a peep. I now the noise you are talking about and do your self a favor try it again with felt then get back to us. Guest Hold_em_Archery
I was a little disappointed in the Drop Zone and the amount of noise when I purchased mine. However, I have made some minor modifications to it, and it has been very quite since. Here is a link to a site where I got my idea from: http://www.deerslayer.freewebspace.com/dropzone.html There are some other fun little projects on there!! Guest Mdbowhunter16
If I were you I would check out the QAD rests. Their pretty good. I use one and its by far the best hunting rest I have used.
maddhunter
I use the Ripcord on my Switchback and love it. It doesn't hit my shelf and doesn't make any noise when released. I did put some mole skin on the prongs to silence the arrow when drawn.
