OJR
On July 17, 1962 the doctor gave me a choice! Either let them amputate my leg at the hip or I would be dead within 3 days! I didn't let them amputate and am still kicking! LOL! One wife, 2 boys and a lot of water under the bridge has happened since that day! So life goes on! Guest Andrea
That's wonderful Orlan. Glad to hear!!!!:) BUT....................you knew someone was gonna ask....... Why did they wanna amputate???
OJR
Why did they wanna amputate??? An accident while on duty in the Air Force! There was 6" of the femur completely smashed, my hip was dislocated and the knee was smashed! I got staff infection (osteomylitis) in the femur! In fact, I still have the infection and there is an open wound in the side of my right femur. It has been open since January of 2001! 25 operations on that leg! The last one was to replace the knee! Lots of fun!
LifeNRA
Glad things are going good for Orlan! Are they gonna take care of that open wound?
OJR
Glad things are going good for Orlan! Are they gonna take care of that open wound? There isn't anything that can be done other than wash it out with peroxide every day! Just live with it!
Guest Andrea
Doesn't that hurt?????
OJR
After 45 years, I just put up with it! When I first got this infection, I had an opening in the right side of my leg that went from the hip to my knee and right down to the bone! Every morning, they would take me to surgery and wash this whole thing out with nothing but alcohol! The never gave me anything for pain! They did this for about 6 weeks. 7 days a week! Now let me clue you in, that SMARTED! In fact I bet if you went into that operating room, you could still see my finger prints imbedded on the side of the table! As for now, it isn't any big thing! Smarts a little, but not bad!
