BR44
The NAP thunderhead 125 or Muzzy 125 (3 or 4) ?
mule659
Any fixed blade broadhead will do the trick man...the thing to worry about is shot placement. If I was going to recommend a broadhead I'd say to use a cut on contact steel force but since you are looking into thunderheads or muzzy I'd say muzzy...3 or 4 blade dont really matter, the elk will not care if he gets hit with 3 or 4 he will be just as dead lol
Covehnter
I'm going with 100gr Slick Tricks for elk this year, dont have any experience with the heads you mentioned though.
OUTDOORLIFE3
i would choose the muzzys...but try looking at the montecs they are a really good cut on contact broadhead
hornaddiction
I use Sonics 100gr. and they work great!!
IowaDeerHunter
I would highly recommend slick tricks, be it the 100 or 125 mags. I would almost gurantee they are the toughest broadhead ( and sharpest ) on the market, not to mention pin point accuracy like field tips. But if you are wanting to go with thunderhead or muzzy, I would say Muzzy, probably MX-3, or MX-4.
rossman
I'm shooting the 100 grain sonics. They pattern exactly with my fieldtips out to 60 yards and are razor sharp!!!!!!!! Any cut on contact head will work. Just make sure you don't hit high!!!!!!!!! --rossman
fenderhunt4
Muzzys seem to slice through anything!
Jeramie
Ive shot both. I do like the Thunderheads but the Muzzy is so much tougher of a head. On a big animal like an elk that is definitely what id be shooting. As far as blade count, it really depends on your setup. I know people that swear by the 4-blade heads but the three fly very true out of my setup. All you're looking for is consistency. Only you and you're setup can determine that. bwlacy
I have taken animals with both the Thunderhead and the Muzzy. I don't think either one is better than the other. When your equipment is tuned they both shoot great. I've shot Thunderheads since they first came on the market in the 80's. If I was going elk hunting I would probably shoot Steelforce heads. I have shot them and they fly good also. Have not hunted with them. My son hunted with them so I played around with them to see how they shot. He had great penetration with them on a whitetail only shooting 34lbs of draw weight. Matt
